Star Wars Outlaws release date confirmed: Trailer and story news
The open-world Star Wars game now has a release date!
We're not too far off from the Star Wars Outlaws release date and new trailers have shown us even more in terms of what to expect with the gameplay and story.
Outlaws is definitely one of our most anticipated titles out of all of the upcoming Star Wars games and will perhaps be one of the best games of 2024, though the controversy surrounding the different editions of the game has sullied its otherwise glowing reputation.
Perhaps for the game dubbed 'GTA in Space', a little financial tomfoolery is on brand for Scoundrel Kay Vess, protagonist of Star Wars Outlaws.
With the Galactic Empire preoccupied with hunting down Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance, crime is flourishing with resources being stretched so thin.
Such a premise would be a grand old romp for some Star Wars Outlaws multiplayer co-op action.

There is plenty to go over though so let's crank up the Hyperdrive and get to it!
When is the Star Wars Outlaws release date?
The Star Wars Outlaws release date is 30th August 2024, the developers from Ubisoft have confirmed.
This date was revealed in the story trailer for the game, and it puts to bed a whole load of rumours about when the game could be landing.
As a late summer release, it sounds like Outlaws will kickstart the busy gaming period at the end of the year.
As for early access, it's worth noting that players who pre-order the Gold or Ultimate Edition will get "up to three days" of a head start on everyone else.
They'll also get some sort of season pass, which comes as a bit of a surprise for a single-player game like this!
Can I pre-order Star Wars Outlaws?
Pre-orders for Star Wars Outlaws are now available at GAME for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Naturally, Xbox Series S players won't be able to purchase a physical copy, with the console being digital only.
The likes of CDkeys haven't any pre-orders available yet, but you can order the Limited or Gold Editions for both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 from Amazon as well.

What consoles and platforms is Star Wars Outlaws coming out on?
Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC, with Ubisoft Connect being its official PC launcher of choice for obvious reasons.
There's been no mention of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch in any of the official press materials, so it looks like Star Wars Outlaws is current-gen only... at least for its release.
Given how pretty the graphics look though, it's probably a safe bet to rule out the last-gen machines.
If you want to play this game at launch, you will need a modern games system.
Star Wars Outlaws gameplay and story details
Star Wars Outlaws is set after The Empire Strikes Back but before Return of the Jedi.
The story sees you play as Kay Vess (voiced by Humberly González), described as a "cunning scoundrel" who, with her loyal companion Nix (Dee Bradley Baker of Star Wars: The Bad Batch), will attempt to make one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.
An enforcer droid called ND-5 (who the internet is already obsessed with) will appear as a supporting character.
The game will be a single-player third-person action adventure with stealth, open combat and space combat. Branching dialogues will also be included in some form.
With this being a fairly lawless time in the galaxy far, far away — thanks to the Empire being very distracted by Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance – Outlaws should provide a fun opportunity to play around on the grimy fringes... to explore some hives of scum and villainy.
With a reputation system and numerous criminal gangs to manoeuvre, some fans are already calling this 'GTA in space'. Sounds pretty fun, right?
Ubisoft premiered the first official gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws in June 2023. It shows Kay Vess and Nix escaping the empire by foot and speeder, with some space travel thrown in there too. It's looking very promising. See it for yourself below:
"When we first imagined the first open-world Star Wars game, we explored where and when it could take place, and quickly realised that we had all the right ingredients for the journey of a scoundrel," said Massive Entertainment creative director Julian Gerighty as part of the announcement.
"These outlaws live life under the thumb of the Galactic Empire, but can still thrive given the opportunities that the criminal underworld opens up for people looking to take advantage of the turmoil. The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make their name, and Kay Vess is written in the stars."
Is there a Star Wars Outlaws trailer?
Yes, recently Ubisoft dropped the Official Story Trailer which you can see just below!
The trailer opens with representatives of all the major criminal factions gathering to discuss the new lucrative era they find themselves in, before cutting to show what bother Kay Vess and Nix have landed themselves in.
We even get a glimpse of Han Solo trapped in carbonite and crimeboss sweetheart Jabba the Hutt.
It concludes with Kay saying they're going to need the right crew and ship to pull off a spectacular height, and offers a look at some of those who we will get to work alongside.
The first Star Wars Outlaws trailer debuted at Ubisoft Forward in June 2023. The cinematic (and might we add hype!) trailer gives a sweeping look at the many locations in a galaxy far, far away that players will be visiting as protagonist Kay Vess.
That's everything we know so far about Star Wars Outlaws.
Remember pre-orders are now live at GAME across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with more retailers likely to get involved soon.
