Seattle’s favourite firefighters are back on our screens for Station 19 season 7, and the drama continues this week on Disney Plus for UK fans.

With new episodes being released on the streamer every Thursday, the procedural drama is set to notch up the tension that bit more this week in episode 6, entitled With So Little to Be Sure Of.

Both Vic's job and Crisis One are in jeopardy – but what exactly will unfold?

While many of us are understandably glued to our screens each week for more firefighter action, the sad news is that this season is also set to be the show's last. But before it bows out, the series will celebrate its 100th episode and likely continue to hit on some important themes.

We also know that there will also be a crossover with Grey's Anatomy on the cards, with Grey's Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis previously telling Deadline that Ben (Jason George) and Carina (Stefania Spampinato) are set to make appearances in Grey's Anatomy.

She said: “What I can tell you is that the Bailey and Ben relationship will continue to cross over. Those two actors love crossing over and it’s very important to them that what they do over here and what they do over there, that it’s one symbiotic thing.”

The new season kicked off in the US in March, but where can you watch the series in the UK? Read on for everything you need to know about Station 19 season 7.

Station 19 season 7 release date: Where can you watch in the UK?

Station 19 season 7 premiered in the US on ABC on Thursday 14th March 2024.

The new series then debuted on Disney Plus in the UK on Thursday 28th March, just a couple of weeks behind our US counterparts. Episodes are released every Thursday.

The show was officially renewed back in April 2023 for season 7 but it was recently announced that it will mark the end of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off series.

Speaking about the ending of the series, Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, said: "For seven seasons Station 19 has been a highlight of the ABC lineup thanks to Shonda and Betsy’s incredible vision, beloved characters and compelling storytelling.

"With Zoanne and Peter at the helm of the upcoming farewell season, we have so much to look forward to, most notably the celebration of the show’s milestone 100th episode."

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes penned on Instagram after the news was announced: “Grateful for an unforgettable run.

"A heartfelt salute to the exceptional cast whose brilliance brought the characters to life and to the viewers who continued to make it possible! Thank you for the magic, the moments, and the memories."

In terms of who we can expect to see in season 7 of the hit drama, many of the main players of the series will return for more.

The season 6 finale did see the death of antagonist Michael Dixon – so that was the last we're seeing of Pat Healy, who plays him. It did also leave on somewhat of a cliffhanger regarding Jack Gibson's (Grey Damon) fate after he suffered a head injury and collapsed. In season 7, we learnt that the injury led to irreparable damage and in episode 2 of the new season, he was told that he can no longer be a firefighter.

The confirmed cast list for Station 19 season 7 is as follows:

  • Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andrea 'Andy' Herrera
  • Jason George as Ben Warren
  • Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan
  • Grey Damon as Jack Gibson
  • Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes
  • Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery
  • Danielle Savre as Maya DeLuca-Bishop
  • Stefania Spampinato as Dr Carina DeLuca-Bishop
  • Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz
  • Josh Randall as Sean Beckett
  • Merle Dandridge as Fire Chief Natasha Ross

There are of course a host of recurring characters and familiar faces (from Grey's Anatomy as well) that we'd expect to make a return, not least Chandra Wilson's Miranda Bailey, who is Ben's wife and a Grey's Anatomy mainstay.

It has also been recently announced that Queer As Folk's Johnny Sibilly will be joining the cast in a guest-starring role as Dominic, "a recently single, charming, charismatic EMS firefighter whose calming nature puts people in crisis at ease."

The seventh and final season will also see some major change behind-the-scenes with new showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige, who take over from Krista Vernoff. Vernoff previously announced that she was stepping down from both Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy.

Paige started off his career as an actor in Queer as Folk before co-creating shows like The Fosters and Good Trouble, then went on to join Station 19 as a director in season 4 and as an executive producer in season 6.

Upon the news of the show's cancellation, Paige took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote: “Well, yesterday was pretty surreal: #Station19 coming to an end, and #GoodTrouble cancelled. Not a great day – still wrapping my head around the news,” he wrote. “These shows (along with #TheFosters) have been my home and my family for the more than the last decade.”

Meanwhile, Clack joins as one of the co-showrunners for season 7 but has been part of the Grey's Anatomy team since the start, using her knowledge as a trained emergency medical doctor to be the show's medical adviser.

She became head writer and executive producer on Station 19 last year but remains in charge of all medical aspects of Grey's storylines. On her new role, Clack said: “I feel incredibly honored to be entrusted with this dynamic and relevant show alongside Peter.

“The diversity of the cast, writers, and crew in addition to their enormous talent and dedication to their craft makes this a thrilling adventure to undertake.

"We are excited about the stories we get to tell using this worldwide platform and both understand the responsibility of being able to share them as we reach into millions of homes weekly. Many thanks to Krista and Shondaland for this opportunity and their faith in us.”

What will happen in Station 19 season 7?

It's safe to say that season 6 of Station 19, which wrapped with episode 18 on 18th May 2023, ended on a bang. The firefighter ball should've been a happy occasion but ended in devastation when the ballroom floor collapsed, injuring multiple people and killing off series bad guy Michael Dixon (Pat Healy).

With Dixon now gone as the series antagonist, will a new enemy rise in the ranks and make life for the beloved firefighters difficult? We'll just have to wait and see but all eyes are on Theo to see whether he could very well be the series bad guy.

One of the big cliffhangers from season 6 that has unfolded in season 7's early episodes is the status of Jack (Damon), who suffered a head injury in the finale and collapsed. He's now left the service in what was a very emotional episode as we saw the team struggle to process his departure.

Let's not forget that Jack walked in on Theo and Kate in the coat closet and was on his way to Vic when he collapsed. If his head injuries are bad, it could possibly spell some sort of amnesia and he could very well not remember seeing Theo and Kate. This means that Vic won't be made aware of her boyfriend's cheating, which we're sure will make for dramatic season 7 viewing.

Another cliffhanger was the fact that Ben and Carina saved a heavily pregnant waitress's child but the mother's fate remained unclear. While it would be sad if she died, she was intent on giving her child up for adoption and so, could Carina and wife Maya be able to finally welcome a child into their family?

After seasons of anticipation, Andy was also finally named captain of the fire station so we can only wait and see how that will unfold in season 7.

There will also be a crossover with Grey's Anatomy, but in regards to how the two hit series will converge, Grey's showrunner Meg Marinis said that it'll be a “final crossover" and that “we like to share catastrophes, that’s what I’m saying". As previously done, there's usually been some kind of disaster that warrants both firefighting and medical teams needing to combine their efforts, but we'll just have to wait and see.
