Ever since Silo landed on Apple TV+ back in 2023, fans have been clamouring for the next instalment.

And now the streamer has rolled out a new trailer giving fans a look at its upcoming slate of movies and TV shows – and it includes footage of Silo.

One clip shows Rebecca Ferguson’s character, Juliette Nichols, traversing across the wasteland outside the Silo shelter, while another bit of footage later in the trailer shows Silo’s Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) holding a rally to rile up the citizens of Silo.

He says: "We are not finished! We will safely leave the Silo!"

Apple TV+ also recently released four first-look photos from season 2, which you can see below.

Ferguson previously confirmed that the series is set to end after seasons 3 and 4 – meaning there's a lot more action set to come our way in the hit Apple TV+ show, which is based on the books by Hugh Howey.

In an interview with Collider, Ferguson explained: "I believe that the show has an ending, and I know when that is. So that's the answer. You will find out when the show is done.

"To be honest, I don't think it's a secret. The books are the books. It's three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons.

"So I believe, unless any Apple person is gonna jump on, I think we're absolutely fine in saying season 1, we've done. Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we're now looking at green-lighting seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would film them maybe together, and that would be the end."

Here's everything we know so far about the release of Silo season 2 – especially after that season 1 finale unravelled secrets that left us with more shocking questions about what happened to humanity, and where Juliette and co will go next.

Silo season 2 release date speculation

While Silo season 2 doesn't yet have a confirmed release date, we're not expecting it any sooner than early 2025.

The series was initially expected to be released this year, but it was impacted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The second season was confirmed in June 2023 and also began filming at Hoddesdon Studios in Hertfordshire that same month.

Graham Yost continues to serve as showrunner, while executive producer Morten Tyldum will return to direct the first three episodes.

Previously confirming that the show had been renewed for season 2, Yost said: "Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it’s an honour to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo."

Production on season 2 finished in March 2024.

Rebecca Ferguson is also once again among the large roster of executive producers.

Who could star in Silo season 2?

We fully expect the following cast members from Silo to return for the second season.

  • Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette "Jules" Nichols
  • Common as Robert Sims
  • Dame Harriet Walter as Martha Walker
  • Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings
  • Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle
  • Rick Gomez as Patrick Kennedy
  • Tim Robbins as Bernard

Rebecca Ferguson will most certainly return as series protagonist Juliette, particularly after that epic cliffhanger.

Meanwhile, we can expect the other major players who were still alive in the Silo to return for the next run.

Additionally, there are other supporting characters that we could see back, including Sophie Thompson as Gloria Hildebrandt, Shane McRae as Knox, Remmie Milner as Shirley, Billy Postlethwaite as Sheriff Hank, Chipo Chung as Sandy, Matt Gomez Hidaka as Cooper, Will Merrick as Danny, and Game of Thrones star Iain Glen as Jules' father, Dr Pete Nichols.

What could be the plot of Silo season 2?

The series will continue on from that epic cliffhanger from the season 1 finale that saw Juliette discover that the world outside was indeed toxic but that there were numerous other silos.

The show will continue to explore what this means for Jules and the rest of the cast, whilst also updating us on life in the series' initial setting.

The story will also be adapted from Hugh Howey's Wool trilogy of books which will answer questions about the nature of the silos and how the world ended up in the state it is in.

We also predict to see the romantic relationship between Jules and IT hand Lukas explore and grow in future episodes, but we doubt it will be smooth sailing.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com about what future seasons of the series will hold, author Hugh Howey explained: "What I love about this series, the book series, and what we would do with the TV show if we get an opportunity, is it doesn't tell the same story over and over again. There's not a lot of repetition.

"The story gets bigger over time and you try to maintain the DNA in the heart of what makes the series fantastic, but there's new characters to introduce, and again, every time you think the mystery is solved, it just gets more intriguing.

"That's been the thrill of this show and the thrill of the books, and we have to get a chance to keep doing it."
