The BBC has released a host of new images from its upcoming detective thriller The Jetty – which stars Jenna Coleman and House of the Dragon‘s Tom Glynn-Carney.
The four-part series is created by Cat Jones and follows events in an “eerie lakeside town” in Lancashire, where three separate events are intricately intertwined: an arson, a missing persons cold case, and an illicit love triangle.
According to the BBC, the mystery will examine “sexual morality, age of consent, grooming, identity and memory”.
It is also described as “as much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller”.
It follows Coleman’s character Detective Ember Manning as she investigates events when a fire tears through a property, soon bringing her into contact with a podcast journalist on the search for clues in a missing persons case and learning of an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his 20s and two underage girls.
The synopsis continues: “But as Ember gets close to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life – forcing her to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her past, present and the town she’s always called home. “
In addition to Coleman and Glynn-Carney, the main cast for the series also includes Ruby Stokes (Lockwood & Co), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You) and Amelia Bullmore (Happy Valley) – all of whom can be seen in the new stills.
Also featuring in the new images are Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) and Laura Marcus (The Devil’s Hour), while other actors to appear in the series include Matthew McNulty (The Terror) and Ralph Ineson (The Witch).
The cast is rounded out by David Ajala (Italian Studies), Nina Barker-Francis (The Flash), Miya Ocego (I Hate Suzie), Elliot Cowan (Fifteen-Love), Shannon Watson, Arthur Hughes (Help), Dominic Coleman (Trollied) and Ruaridh Mollica (Red Rose).
Filming on the show has been completed, and it will launch later in the year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One – with an exact release date expected to be announced in due course.
The Jetty will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2024.
The BBC is set to release a new documentary following a year in the life of Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, after her cancer diagnosis and her fight to keep dancing.
In 2023, the dancer discovered a lump in her breast and received a grade three breast cancer diagnosis, which meant she was unable to dance professionally as part of the Strictly line-up.
However, as of February 2024, Dowden has been told that her cancer check-up results came back with “no evidence of disease”, and she was recently confirmed as part of this year’s professional dancer line-up.
Six days after her diagnosis, Dowden allowed cameras to follow her experiences, in which she was faced with surgery, chemotherapy, fertility treatment and uncertainty over 15 months.
What is being described as a “raw, deeply personal and honest” film, Amy Dowden: Fight of My Life follows the dancer through “the most turbulent year of her life”.
“A year ago I was recently married and about to go on [my] honeymoon, it was an exciting new chapter in my life, but finding a lump on my breast changed my life,” said Dowden.
“I never thought at my age I would get cancer and, despite having family members and friends who were cancer survivors, had no idea just what the impact on my life would be.
“I’ve learnt so much about myself and what a cancer diagnosis means on this journey. I hope others find hope and strength from this film, and that it encourages everyone to check themselves, no matter what age you are.”

]]>Bianca Jackson continues to lose friends and alienate people in EastEnders tomorrow (Wednesday 12th June 2024).
The fan-favourite character portrayed by soap icon Patsy Palmer has had a tumultuous time on the BBC One soap of late.
Bianca has been seen struggling since the departure of adopted daughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) who rejected her after she learned her mum had hidden the secret of Whitney’s fiancé Zack Hudson (James Farrar) sleeping with her best friend and cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).
However, this week, Bianca’s attentions to have turned to the intentions and misdemeanours of Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), the partner of her half-sister Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).
On Monday, Bianca discovered that Reiss had been funding his IVF treatment with Sonia from the personal financial account of his comatose wife Debbie.
The following episode, Bianca forced Reiss to come clean about what he had secretly been doing and had intended to do so once more.
Sonia was emotionally torn to discover what had happened and Bianca remained firm that what Reiss was doing was wrong and that he was not good enough for her.
However, following a heart-to-heart with more optimistic friend Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth), Sonia remained committed to Reiss and their relationship and advocated for using Debbie’s money to pay for their next round of IVF treatment.
As Tuesday’s episode concluded, Bianca made her dislike of Sonia’s decisions clear but Reiss privately threatend Bianca to back off and not get in the way of his relationship with Sonia.
It seems, however, that the ever-shy-and-retiring Bianca will not take this lying down and will be stung by her sister’s actions.
In the first look at Wednesday’s episode, Bianca retaliates by shouting the odds at Reiss and Sonia from behind the bar in the Queen Victoria pub.
While Bianca has backup watching in the form of best pal Kat Mitchell (Jessie Wallace), has she gone too far this time?
Following the loss of Whitney from her life, has Bianca now lost Sonia for good too?

]]>We might still be a while away from the end of Game of Thrones spin-off series House of the Dragon – but showrunner Ryan Condal has admitted that he already has some lurking fears about how to end the show.
Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com ahead of the launch of the upcoming second run, Condal said that although he’s “not thinking that far ahead” just yet, he was aware that “sticking the landing is actually the most difficult thing” when it comes to a beloved TV series.
“Because everybody by that point, many years on down the road, are going to have their own idea of where the show should and/or what it should be,” he explained.
“And you can’t satisfy all of those very specific ideas. You can’t give them what they want. You have to give them the thing that they need.
“And that’s our challenge as adapters, and, you know, I’m willing to take it on – but yes, it is… that lurks in the back of my mind, for sure.”
Condal also revealed that the process of writing and making the second run had given him “some level of clarity” about where and when he wanted to end the show.
He added: “And look, as I always say, there’s a history that marches on for decades after this. So it’s not about ending the Targaryen history. It’s just finding the place to close the curtain on this particular time…
“We’re trying to find the satisfying television ending or the conclusion where we can leave everybody knowing that time marches on from here, but we’ve brought this dramatic story to a close.
“So, I think that’s become very clear as we’ve just gotten farther down the timeline. But I’m not ready to yet talk about how many episodes or seasons are left.
“But I think the nice thing is we know where we’re going, we have all the material that we need, because the book is written and hopefully we can bring this to a satisfying conclusion.”
Read more:
Condal also explained that the challenge for season two was to “raise the bar” from the first season, especially since it was received so warmly by both fans and critics.
“Every season is its own challenge,” he said. “The first season, the challenge was making something that anybody would engage with and care about after the celestial event that was that original series.
“And how do you follow that? You don’t – you just try to make something that stands on its own two feet.
“Well, we did that – people showed up, they liked it. That’s great. Now we have to outdo ourselves and raise the bar, and they’re coming in with such high expectation. So I think from season to season, that’s the challenge.”

]]>Warning: Spoilers from the book Fire & Blood ahead.
As excitement amps up for House of the Dragon season 2, fans are clamouring to know just how the story is going to be adapted from the beloved novel Fire & Blood, and one particularly brutal storyline sticks out – Blood and Cheese.
The cast and creatives have been teasing the storyline, with Olivia Cooke, who plays Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower, branding the scenes “heinous”.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “I’d just say, it is Game of Thrones, expect the worst. Expect the very worst possible, and then double it. I dunno what else to say without heavily spoiling it, but it is heinous.”
So, as we gear up to return to Westeros, here’s everything you need to know about Blood and Cheese. Be warned – it’s gruesome stuff.
Once again, this is your final warning for book spoilers!
Blood and Cheese are a duo of assassins hired by Prince Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith) to murder one of King Aegon II Targaryen’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) sons.
This is in revenge for the death of Queen Rhaenyra’s son Prince Lucerys who, in the novel, was killed by his uncle Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell).
After the news of Lucerys’s death reaches Rhaenyra (which we saw in the season 1 finale), Daemon sends her a raven to tell her that her son will be avenged.
Through the means of his spymaster, Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), he enlists Blood and Cheese to kill one of Aegon’s sons.
The pair make it into the Red Keep and the bed chamber of Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), killing her bedmaid and waiting for Queen Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) and her children, Princes Jaehaerys and Maelor, and their sister Princess Jaehaera to enter the room.
Blood and Cheese then give Queen Helaena the choice of which son they should kill. She pleads with them to kill her instead, but after being threatened with the death of all of her children, she chooses her youngest, Maelor, to die. Going against her wish, the pair instead kill her eldest son, Jaehaerys.
While the pair make it out of the Red Keep unscathed, Blood is seized days later, and is found with Jaehaerys’s head, which he was planning to bring to Daemon for a reward. He later dies, but Cheese and Mysaria are not found.
The storyline might differ slightly in the show – after all, the season 1 finale made a crucial change to Lucerys’s death scene.
In the last episode of season 1, Lucerys is killed by Ameond’s dragon Vhagar, despite commands to the contrary from Aemond. In the novel, Aemond knowingly kills Lucerys, but in the series he appears horrified, realising he’s made the first move in a civil war.
As for whether the storyline will remain in its full brutal fashion remains to be seen, but of course, Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon have never previously shied away from gruesome scenes.
Yes, the Blood and Cheese storyline will be adapted, with Alicent Hightower actress Cooke speaking out about the “heinous” scenes.
Condal also recently opened up to RadioTimes.com about adapting various scenes from the books.
He said: “In the making of this series, the one thing that we know and we do have as adapters are these big moments, and we do need to service them in a way to honour the history…
“So I think all the big moments from the books, the things that you expect, you can continue to expect them to be covered and dramatised in some way.”
He added: “I read that book for the first time when George [RR Martin] handed [it] to me, and I highlighted all the same things as everybody else – so, trust me as a maker of television that I’m as interested in landing on all those things as people are in seeing them.”
Sam C Wilson will play the imposing Blood, while Mark Stobbart is taking on the role of the smaller and more cunning Cheese.
Wilson is known for previous roles in Dodger and Hanna, while Stobbart has appeared in shows like Line of Duty and The Long Shadow.

There are myriad bosses to fight in Elden Ring, but many consider Malenia one of the hardest. Finding her location can be tough enough, but then trying to beat her can only heap more misery upon you.
Fortunately, she is an optional boss, and so if you are simply looking to reach the end of the game then you can just skip her.
However, some people will not be able to sleep knowing she exists and has not been defeated.
If that is you then fear not, as we have everything you need to know about locating Malenia in Elden Ring and then defeating her.
In Elden Ring, Malenia is located at the bottom of Miquella’s Haligtree. Getting to her can be an ordeal in itself, though.
It is worth noting that to access Haligtree, you must first pass through the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs, which involves solving a puzzle and dodging several powerful enemies.
Assuming you have passed that trial, you will find yourself standing at the top of a large tree that is covered in fungi and infested with monsters.
If you are simply looking to find Malenia, then we’d advise avoiding combat at all costs. There are multiple Sites of Grace along the way, plus a mandatory boss fight, so you will need to be strategic.
The journey itself is full of twists and turns, so we have included a step-by-step video from YouTuber Arekkz Gaming, who expertly guides us all the way to the bottom.
OK, so you have survived that epic trek and are finally in a position to fight Malenia. She is an optional boss, so you can consider yourself courageous for even thinking about taking her on. It’s a tough battle, so we’ve included a guide below to help you emerge victorious.
There are numerous ways to defeat Malenia, but using a weapon called the Rivers of Blood is a good place to start. The epic sword can be obtained by killing Okina, who can be seen at the Church of Repose during the latter stages of the game.
Despite its power, it is still recommended that players level this weapon up as much as possible before taking her on.
[squirrel-affiliate-playlist squirrel_playlist_id=”653″ /]
Malenia is aggressive and has weapons that will heal her whenever she lands a blow on you, so some have suggested that hitting her as much as possible with your own aggression will not only reduce her health, but also decrease the amount of time and space she has to attack you – which helps to keep her life bar ticking down.
It is advised that players are at least level 120 before facing Malenia, armed with weapons (if not using the Rivers of Blood) of 20 and over.
Boss fights are also easier with multiple people, so teaming up with a friend or two is the best practice here. Using your comrades to take turns in keeping her attention is also a good strategy, as again, that will reduce the amount of time she has to build a combo of attacks.
If learning visually is more your thing, we’ve included a superb video from Jazza97 on YouTube below.

]]>A new trailer has launched for the upcoming DreamWorks animated film The Wild Robot – which is based on a hugely popular book of the same name and features an all-star voice cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal and Kit Connor.
The trailer gives us a closer look at the epic adventures of a robot named ROZZUM Unit 7134 – Roz, for short – after she gets stranded on an uninhabited island and must find a way to survive in a harsh environment she was not programmed for.
Exciting stuff!
You can view the full trailer – which features some stunning animation – below:
To mark the trailer launch, the film’s director Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon) spoke exclusively to RadioTimes.com about the new film and why he was so desperate to tell the story of Roz.
“I was looking around for my next project, and I dropped by DreamWorks,” he explained. “And amongst the things that they had to offer as things to develop was the book The Wild Robot.
“And when they described it, and gave me the lowdown, I immediately picked that one out as the one that I was very interested in. It lined up very much with what I’m all about, and the kind of things I do, and my sensibilities.
“So I read it. And I ran back as fast as I could and said, ‘Yes, I’d like to do this, please. May I be the director on this? I’d love to write and direct it.’
“And once we started, I actually mentioned to my daughter the project I was working on, and she said, ‘I read that book,’ and she immediately pulled it out.
“And I was like, ‘Yes, I do remember seeing that around the house for a while.’ It’s a book that is widely read in schools. So she was very excited that I was working on it.”
Read more:
Sanders explained that one of the “very first conversations” he had when he boarded the project was with the book’s author Peter Brown, who he said gave him “a great gift” in the form of some key advice on how to approach the source material.
“In our very first conversation with him, he revealed to us that the guiding theme and principle in his head, as he wrote the book, was that kindness can be a survival skill,” he explaned.
“And it was a key to Roz’s story, because she’s a piece of high technology lost in a wilderness. She’s in the opposite place, in every way of what she was designed to exist in. And the place that she’s in is unforgiving.”
He continues: “When she finds herself most animals, she connects with them, and learns very quickly that they do not want to have anything to do with her and they don’t like her. And she also learns the rather savage and unforgiving nature of the island.
“And that was something that Peter Brown revealed to us – is that this is a story all about defying and exceeding your programming.”
Of course, robots have been a feature in several acclaimed animated films from years gone by – from The Iron Giant to Big Hero 6 – and Brown said that Roz had one key thing in common with most of her predecessors.
“One of the things that she shares with all those films is a lack of facial articulation,” he said. “The only robot I’ve ever seen that I felt was successful that did have facial articulation would be The Iron Giant by Brad Bird. And that was a very restrained articulation.
“Wall-E, R2DT, C-3P0, the robots from Forbidden Planet – they have minimal to zero facial articulation. And there’s a really good reason for that, I think it allows you to empathise with them more.
“I think too much articulation tends to be off-putting – it has the opposite effect, actually. Little to no articulation allows the audience to empathise and to connect with these characters.
“So, that was one of the guiding principles. And a difference that you can see between the illustrations in the book and the creature here in our film is that we eliminated the mouth.
“In the book, Peter Brown’s illustrations have just a very simple, understated line for a mouth – and his illustrations are still, so it’s a really good thing for that.
“In a movie where we’re able to move the robot, we put all of our eggs in the eyes and the body movement basket. Giving the images those limitations is exactly what I wanted to do, because I knew that when you do that, they can do extraordinary things.”
The Wild Robot will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 18th October 2024.
The BBC has announced a special programme commemorating TV presenter Dr Michael Mosley, following his death on the Greek island of Symi, will air this Friday (14th June).
Moseley’s body was discovered near Agia Marina beach last Sunday – four days after he went missing while on holiday.
The broadcaster was known for BBC TV shows including Trust Me, I’m a Doctor and Radio 4’s Just One Thing podcast.
He initially studied medicine and was a qualified doctor before transitioning to a media career, and became known for his ability to communicate scientific concepts to a broad audience.
Titled Michael Mosley: The Doctor Who Changed Britain, the documentary will look back at Mosley’s “extraordinary broadcasting career which spanned almost 40 years”, according to the official synopsis.
“Fronting series such as Trust Me I’m a Doctor and the hit podcast Just One Thing, Michael used his warm, often funny approach to deliver important, life-changing health messages,” it continues.
“He started behind the scenes, as an award-winning Science Journalist and Producer, before becoming a much-loved Presenter. His programmes have made a lasting impact on the nation’s health habits from intermittent fasting to the benefits of a cold shower.
“Michael also shared his own struggles with audiences world-wide; as a chronic insomniac he made programmes about sleep and, ever curious, he would also go to extremes in the pursuit of science, even infecting himself with a tapeworm. Celebrating Michael’s career, this programme marks the enormous impact he made, touching the lives of so many.”
Michael Mosley: The Doctor Who Changed Britain will air on Friday 14th July at 8pm on BBC One.

]]>The novel was previously adapted into a film in 1990 starring Harrison Ford but, when speaking with RadioTimes.com exclusively, Gyllenhaal said that the new show is “totally different” to the movie.
He said: “I’d seen the film, I’d seen the film more than once. It came out in the early ’90s so I didn’t see it when it first came out, but I saw it on television at a different time. And in preparation for this, I did read the book.
“But ultimately, David was writing something totally different. And we started with the pilot, when we first started shooting we only had the first two episodes.”
He continued: “We were given them as we went along, so I was in the dark as to what I was doing until I was fed into, I’ve never had that experience before.
“Many people in television have that often, but I never had and so to me, it didn’t give me much time to really go back. It was really that material was the thing I was looking at, and using as my Bible.”

Like the book and the film before it, this new version of Presumed Innocent follows Rusty Sabich, the chief deputy prosecutor in Chicago who finds himself as the prime suspect in the murder case of his colleague and former lover.
The series also stars Ruth Negga, Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, O-T Fagbenle, Renate Reinsve and Nana Mensah.
Speaking with RadioTimes.com, Gyllenhaal also explained what it was that drew him to star in the role of Rusty in the first place.
He said: “First of all, it coming from David Kelly and JJ Abrams, which was an interesting pairing and two behemoths in the television space. So that, and then I read the pilot and when I got to the end of it I wanted to know what happens next. It was super intriguing and so that really drew me in initially.
“And then I also just thought, ‘What a predicament for this character to be in’, you know? There’s so many ways and avenues in which this could go. And I thought, ‘Isn’t that kind of what you want?’
“If you can populate it with incredible performers, which they ended up doing, just an extraordinary cast, then you’re able to play in all of the complications of this sort of Greek tale that he’s laid out, and that really made me want to do it.
“And then also really try my hand at long form storytelling in that way, as a performer. I’ve never told an eight hour story before, and I was really intrigued by the prospect of that.”

]]>Euro 2024 fever has peaked ahead of the tournament, with 24 teams touching down in Germany to begin their adventure.
Each major international tournament brings a raft of bristling favourites, cunning dark horses, creaking giants on their way down and minnows poised to spring a surprise.
We ran a predictor to determine how we think the tournament will pan out, who will go all the way and which teams you should look out for.
RadioTimes.com brings you our guide to every team at Euro 2024, including who we think will win the tournament.
Read more: Best football players in the world | Best football players of all time
Group B
Albania, managed by Arsenal hero Sylvinho, assisted by Manchester City icon Pablo Zabaleta, led by Slough-born Armando Broja. International football is great.
The Albanians are one of the teams with the longest odds to win the tournament, and find themselves in the unfortunate position of residing in Group B alongside Spain, Italy and Croatia.
However, they won their qualifying group against relatively stern opposition, Czech Republic and Poland, losing just one of eight matches and conceding just four times.
Without much creativity among their ranks to seriously threaten the big boys, they will attempt to become a rock-hard defensive unit and seek to frustrate opposition in every game. They won’t qualify for the knockouts, but they will have a really fun time trying to drag a big fish down with them.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group D
Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick boasts an exciting squad in what could prove to be the real Group of Death at Euro 2024.
Austria have defeated Croatia, Germany and Italy under his watch with an all-action style and plenty of goals. The Austrians should be fun to watch, and if they can snatch a draw against France or Netherlands, they could really mess with the complexion of the tournament.
Marcel Sabitzer is their main creative outlet with four goals and a couple of assists in seven qualifying games, while the squad is filled with Bundesliga talent aiming to make a name for themselves on the grand stage.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group E
Nobody enjoyed Euro 2024 qualifying as much as Romelu Lukaku, with 14 goals to his name in just eight matches.
He will be flanked by the all-action, explosive pace of Jérémy Doku to his left and the incisive Leandro Trossard to his right, all quarter-backed by the one-man army, Kevin De Bruyne.
KDB has returned to fitness and form at the right time for Belgium, and will readily supply ammunition to the front three.
There’s a lack of star quality at the back, which may be exploited by top teams in the latter stages, led by 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen and Leicester centre-back Wout Faes, but the frontline will keep all opponents on their toes.
Prediction: Quarter-finals
Group B
Death, taxes and Luka Modrić rocking up at major international football tournaments. The Croatia captain’s first taste of major finals came at the World Cup 2006 in Germany, so it’s both astounding and fitting that his ninth – and last – is likely to be Euro 2024 in Germany.
Croatia’s six most-capped players in their Euro 2024 squad boast 696 caps between them, offering experience and composure you simply can’t coach into players. Modrić, Ivan Perišić, Domagoj Vida, Mateo Kovačić, Marcelo Brozović and Andrej Kramarić simply know the deal.
Of course, everyone has anticipated a Croatian decline for six or so years, but they just keep motoring on, their age and maturity proving to be a major asset rather than a hinderance.
It would be easy to tip the traditional elite, Spain or Italy, to win Group B, but we think Croatian know-how will see them through as top dogs.
Prediction: Quarter-finals
Group F
The streets will never forget Wayne Rooney at Euro 2004, Diego Forlán at World Cup 2010 or Renato Sanches at Euro 2016. Each international tournament throws up a cult hero out of nowhere. At Euro 2020, Patrik Schick was that man.
The unfashionable Czech Republic were the surprise package of Euro 2020 as they reached the quarter-finals and narrowly missed out on a place in the final four. Schick’s five goals in five games, including one struck from the banks of the Shetland Islands beyond David Marshall between the posts in Glasgow, were instrumental.
Since the tournament, Schick has struggled with numerous injury issues and scored just once for the Czechs in only four appearances. They lack star quality with an ageing core, and cannot be expected to progress here despite a favourable group.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group C
The Danes are fine, but no more than fine. Stalwarts of international tournaments, Denmark usually sit in the ‘Europa League’ category of teams: solid, occasionally drifting through to the latter stages without being a serious, top-tier contender for decades.
The mood is subdued in Danish circles ahead of this tournament, there’s a feeling deflation with a need for more creativity and youthful energy through the squad.
They boast experience but lack a great deal of excitement beyond Rasmus Højlund, who has made a decent start to his international career.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group C
The time is now. World Cup 2018 was a surprise, the start of a revolution; Euro 2020 was progress, the rise of the next generation; World Cup 2022 was a setback, due to the strength of France. Euro 2024 is a ‘no excuses’ tournament for England.
In Jordan Pickford, John Stones, Harry Kane, Kyle Walker there is vast experience in major tournament finals – they have never let England down.
In Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden, there is world-class talent. In Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton, there is fresh blood. The ingredients are all there, the balance is right, the blend is right.
Whatever your opinion of Gareth Southgate right now, he has been the most successful and transformative England manager of a generation or more, but now it’s time to cash in for silverware.
England need to beat big teams to win big prizes. Our predictor suggests they will go through Group C, Slovakia, Spain and France to meet Portugal in the final. The elusive ‘It’ has rarely felt closer to genuinely ‘Coming Home’.
Prediction: WINNERS
Group D
There is an argument to be made that this is the first tournament since 2018 where France’s squad is not the envy of every other team in the tournament. England and Portugal boast 26-man squads teeming with life, and while France certainly look strong, they have holes.
Injuries have led to 33-year-old N’Golo Kanté being restored to the squad, which doesn’t exactly scream depth, while 35-year-old Olivier Giroud, who is likely to lead the line, will retire from international football on his terms, rather than be forced out by a crop of young upstarts.
Of course, Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann have the ability and experience to carve teams apart on their day, while France boast four terrific centre-backs (all of whom would make the England starting XI), but the line-up will not look much different to tournaments gone by. That could be a great strength, but there’s a fine line between an experienced XI and a stagnant one.
Prediction: Semi-finals
Group F
Expect a groundswell of support for the underdog of underdogs, Georgia, as they enter their first ever international tournament finals led by a superstar name aiming to do the unthinkable and drag his team into the knockout rounds.
Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will hope to make himself as much of a problem for opposition defenders as he does commentators, with all of Georgia’s hopes pinned on his shoulders.
The Georgians will line up with five at the back and aim to funnel their entire gameplan through Kvaratskhelia. And guess what? It might actually work.
Boss Willy Sagnol will be keen to lift all pressure from his players, but this group does contain a pair of beatable teams. We’re backing Georgia to get a positive result, but it’s a tall order to ask for two good results and progression to the hallowed knockout rounds.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group A
Porsche at the front, Volkswagen at the back. The hosts motor into this tournament as a lopsided unit, but one with plenty of potential to shine in front of partisan home crowds.
This is a Germany team in transition following two World Cup group stage exits and failing to go beyond the round of 16 at Euro 2020.
Boss Julian Nagelsmann has injected fresh verve into his squad, with rising sensations Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala set to play off the red-hot Kai Havertz up top. Their defence is solid, if unspectacular, while the experienced heads of Manuel Neuer, İlkay Gündoğan, Toni Kroos and Thomas Müller will hope to keep the young pups grounded.
Expectations are measured, the shackles are off, and the feelgood factor is blossoming without the burgeoning weight of ambition. That’s a potentially potent blend.
Prediction: Semi-finals
Group A
Remember the summer of 2021, when half of Europe decided Turkey were dark horses for Euro 2020, only for them to swiftly lose three in a row and become the first team to be eliminated from the tournament? Hungary are the Turkey of Euro 2024.
The ‘dark horses’ tag has been firmly pinned to Hungarian chests following a stunning 4-0 victory over England in 2022, an admirable pair of draws at Euro 2020 in the Group of Death Total Annihilation containing France, Germany and Portugal, while they qualified without tasting defeat (admittedly against Serbia, Montenegro, Lithuania and Bulgaria).
They are the archetypal awkward opposition, who will opt for five at the back with two holding midfielders in front of them, with a talismanic key player in the shape of Dominik Szoboszlai. However, he will be relied on to do all the heavy lifting in the creativity department, and they will run into traffic very quickly should they escape the group.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group B
Italy could feasibly exit the competition following the group stages or they could win the whole thing. They really are the most unpredictable team going into this competition.
A vast number of their Euro 2020-winning squad has either retired or drifted into obscurity, others such as Federico Chiesa have failed to build on their form, while several next-gen stars including Destiny Udogie are ruled out through injury.
Like Germany, Italy are a team in transition, though the crucial difference between the two is that Germany boast an exciting crop of youngsters itching to make a impact. Italy do not.
The Italians are crying out for a reliable goalscorer to lead the line, with huge pressure on Gianluca Scamacca to finally step up for his country.
The Italians know they can’t afford to lose to both Spain and Croatia. At least a point against either, plus a victory over Albania, should see them through in third, but they’re unlikely to go much further.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group D
There feels like a dearth of world-class centre-backs roaming the earth at the moment, with towering defensive titans generally fading into myth and legend. Almost.
Virgil van Dijk straddles the line between old-fashioned centre-back, with strength, cunning and mastery of the art of tackling, and a modern ball-player, with great composure. He is crucial to the Netherlands’ chances this time around.
The Dutch are a tall, physical team with Van Dijk, Nathan Aké, Stefan de Vrij and Micky van de Ven among their defensive options, while Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst continue the theme higher up the pitch. Xavi Simons will add flair.
Netherlands feel like dark horses to go all the way, but a potential quarter-final showdown with Portugal feels like a big hurdle to clear.
Prediction: Quarter-finals
Group D
It’s hard not to feel like Poland have completely blown their opportunity with one of the finest strikers in modern football history. Robert Lewandowski has netted 82 goals in 150 caps leading up to the tournament, but can you ever remember the Poles achieving anything of note on the world or continental stage?
They have scored just 10 goals in 11 games across three European Championships, plus five goals in seven games across two World Cup competitions during which Lewandowski has featured. They rarely play expansive football or capitalise on their greatest asset. Expect them to show up but fail to unlock their main man on the big stage once again.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group F
Too many people are sleeping on Portugal. Their squad depth, their starting XI, the blend of youth and experience are all too great to ignore.
They were the standout team of qualifying in an admittedly weak group. They scored more (36) and conceded fewer (two) than any other team in Europe in 10 games.
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to lead the line and will be desperate to win the lot once again, Rúben Dias offers steel at the back, Rafael Leão has a terrific chance to kick on, João Cancelo is a creative force from deep and Bernardo Silva is a wily operator.
Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota, João Félix and Rúben Neves are not even guaranteed to start, proving the reserves they can call upon.
It feels quite incredible that Roberto Martínez has been handed the keys to the car despite an underwhelming six years guiding Belgium’s golden generation to… mediocrity, but there’s almost too much talent in this squad to fail.
Prediction: Runners-up
Group E
Let’s be real, Slovakia versus Romania is unlikely to go down as a classic in the history books. The Romanians arrive at Euro 2024 having won their qualifying group, which included Switzerland and Israel among others.
Most impressively, they conceded just five goals in 10 games to make the finals, and will rely on a stern defence to give themselves a chance of progressing.
This may be the weakest group in the competition, so there is an opportunity for Romania, but it will still be a tough ask to stitch two big results together.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group A
Scotland are aiming to be here for a long time, not just a good time. It’s fair to say the Tartan Army enjoyed their three outings at Euro 2020, despite it resembling more of a staycation with two matches in Glasgow and one in the far flung reaches of… London.
The Scots will jet off to Germany with well-founded optimism they won’t be dashing to catch an immediate return flight.
Steve Clarke’s men qualified comfortably ahead of Erling Haaland’s Norway, and recorded a famous victory over Spain in the process.
They are placing a lot of faith in John McGinn and Scott McTominay to provide goals from midfield without a prolific, proven goalscorer to lead the line, but there’s Premier League quality woven throughout the squad.
Playing Germany in the opening game is the best time to face the hosts, before they find their rhythm. Scotland have the talent to finish second or a strong third in the group to make the knockouts.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group C
Serbia compete in the European Championship finals for the first time as… Serbia, but there are low expectations they’ll make an impact.
Evergreen transfer rumour mill fodder Sergej Milinković-Savić is plying his trade at Al-Hilal alongside striker Aleksandar Mitrović.
While a move to the Saudi Pro League is not necessarily the sign of a washed-up star, it surely can’t be an easy transition going from domination in that context to underdog status at a major international tournament.
One key issue for Serbia is that two of their handful of top class players, Mitrović and Dušan Vlahović, are fighting over one position up front, with a patchy, unbalanced squad offering little in the way of inspiration beyond the frontline.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group E
Slovakia enter the tournament having only lost to one team, Portugal, in their 10 qualifying matches, albeit in a straightforward group. They also scored the only two goals Portugal conceded during the campaign.
Captain Milan Škriniar will marshal his troops to remain tight, compact and hard to break down against Belgium, but the big test for Slovakia will be seizing the initiative to try and win games against Ukraine and Romania in a favourable group.
Four points would likely see them through, an achievable total in Group E.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group C
4-4-2. Defensively compact. Tight. Cagey. Counter-attacking. Simple. Effective. Sounds like a banana skin for England, right?
Slovenia could prove to be one of the surprise packages of the tournament, and arguably represent England’s toughest opposition in Group C. They are the classic ‘organised and hard to beat’ team Southgate’s side have often come unstuck against.
They boast world-class quality between the posts in the imposing shape of Jan Oblak, while Benjamin Šeško is lining up to be one of the breakout stars of this tournament.
The 6ft5in talismanic striker is not only a force in the air, but he’s got pace to burn on land. He is the definition of a handful, and will be a threat every time Slovenia purchase a set-piece.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group B
Spain are a nation seeking to find their place in the new world order following their dynastic dominance of the early ’10s. Andrés Iniesta, Xavi, David Villa and Carles Puyol are long gone, and their heirs to their thrones have not quite found their feet.
Pedri has threatened to take the world by storm, but an injury-riddled couple of years has stunted his growth, while Gavi is currently unavailable through injury and will miss the tournament.
Of course, there is talent among the Spanish ranks, none greater than Manchester City behemoth Rodri pulling the strings in midfield, but in calling up Jesús Navas, Ayoze Pérez and Álvaro Morata, there’s also a clear labour shortage. Lamine Yamal could make history as the youngest player to feature at a European Championship, aged 16.
But this is tournament football, and there is always hope. Spain should squeeze through Group B, where we have tipped them to face Scotland in the round of 16, but full restoration to their former glory feels like a stretch.
Prediction: Quarter-finals
Consider this your biennial reminder of Xherdan Shaqiri’s continued existence. Switzerland are perennial qualifiers for major tournament finals, but rarely make their presence truly felt.
To their credit, they did eliminate France on penalties following a 3-3 thriller in the round of 16 at Euro 2020, but that game was an anomaly in their all-time record. They qualify, they make up the numbers, they depart and nobody really notices.
In Manuel Akanji, Fabian Schär and Granit Xhaka, they boast a solid core in theory, but results have been poor leading up to the tournament. They qualified five points behind Romania with just four victories in a poor group, with scarce signs of fresh talent coming through. They could exit without a whimper this time.
Prediction: Group Stage
Group F
Euro 2020 dark horse disasters Turkey will be determined to put in a better account of themselves than they did three years ago, with a mixed bag of form suggesting they’re likely to be one of the most turbulent teams in the tournament, capable of beating or losing to anyone.
Turkey defeated Germany and Croatia last year, but have lost to Hungary, drew with Wales and lost 6-1 against Austria in their most recent outings, with a draw against Armenia in their qualifying campaign.
They are fortunate to find themselves in a group with little quality beyond Portugal, but don’t expect any fireworks.
Prediction: Round of 16
Group E
Ukraine are a stronger proposition than their last-ditch play-off qualification status suggests. They were unlucky not to make it through to the finals via conventional means after equalling Italy’s total of 14 points in a group that also contained England.
They lost just two of their eight matches and drew both of their home encounters against the top pair of teams above them.
Mykhailo Mudryk has all the hallmarks of a player who could relish the relative freedom international football can afford. Without being saddled with the rigours of being expected to shine for Chelsea on a weekly basis, Mudryk could be set to showcase his clear talent and rapid pace with pressure pushed to one side.
Prediction: Round of 16

]]>After what seems like a lifetime since The Traitors was last on our TV screens, fans of the duplicitous reality series will be able to get an added fix from those across the pond, in The Traitors US season 2.
While the series aired in the US around the same time the second season of the UK version did, it has taken its sweet time to make its way to streaming services for fans in the UK.
Hosted by Alan Cumming, the second season of the US Traitors will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from Wednesday 12th June!
While the US version follows a similar pattern to the UK season, there are some changes. Firstly, civilians are out and celebrities are in, meaning that we get a full star-studded line-up of Faithfuls and Traitors.
Secondly, two new areas have been added: the scullery and the folley. And the third (and arguably the biggest) change is that instead of going to the armoury, contestants have to win Shields in challenges.
As a whole host of famous faces battle it out for that money pot, here’s everything you need to know about The Traitors US season 2 cast.
Job: Reality TV personality
From: California
If there’s one thing Johnny Devenazio loves more than game shows – he has competed in several seasons of The Challenge and appeared on MTV’s The Real World: Key West – it’s bananas. He earned his nickname because he shoved bananas in his mum’s car’s tailpipe to get out of school, and his first job was at a Banana Republic store.
Job: Drag Queen
From: New York
If you can handle the wrath of Michelle Visage, you can handle anything, and we have no doubt that this is drag queen Peppermint’s approach as she joins The Traitors US line-up. She was a favourite among fans in season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and was a whisker away from winning the whole thing, as she sashayed away as the season’s runner-up.
Job: Fashion Entrepreneur
From: Miami
Fashion entrepreneur Marcus Jordan was born to be competitive – he’s the son of the NBA’s Michael Jordan and also played basketball. But the biggest slam dunk of all is that Marcus will be joined in the eponymous castle by his girlfriend, Laura Pippin.
Job: Ballroom dancer
From: Los Angeles
Will the ‘”bad boy of ballroom” end up being the bad boy of The Traitors? Ukrainian ballroom dancer Maksim Chmerkovisky is best known for appearing in Dancing with the Stars. He even won season 18 in 2014 with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis.
Job: Former MP
From: London
The former MP is known for demanding “orduh”, but will he bring order or chaos to the competition? He was also the longest-serving Speaker of the House in the history of Parliament.

Ekin who?! Ekin-Su! The Turkish soap star captured the nation’s (and Davide’s) heart in Love Island season 8, and ended up winning the whole thing. But as we know, she’s a “liar” and “actress” – so The Traitors should be perfect for her.
Job: Reality TV personality

Sandra Diaz-Twine’s favourite song is probably Destiny’s Child’s Survivor, as she won the reality show of the same name not once, but twice. But will her luck run out on The Traitors?
Job: Reality TV personality

Two-time Big Brother contestant and Twitch streamer Dan Gheesling became infamous for his wily ways on the reality show, but will he bring that same brand of sneakiness to The Traitors? Honestly, we hope so.
Job: Reality TV personality/Real-estate agent
From: Beverly Hills
Real-estate agent Mercedes ‘MJ’ Javid became an icon after starring in all seasons of Shahs of Sunset, and with a $5 million fortune, she is the richest contestant on the show.
Job: Reality TV personality/Real-estate agent

Sandra Diaz-Twine isn’t the only Survivor star joining The Traitors. Parvati Shallow competed in Survivor: Cook Islands, Survivor: Heroes vs Villains, and even won Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs Favorites.
Job: Reality TV personality
From: Boston
Nobody knows The Challenge better than Chris, as he’s won several editions of the show including Rivals II, Invasion of the Champions, Champs vs Stars 1 and 2, and Spies, Lies & Allies. Hopefully for him, his winning streak continues on The Traitors.
Job: Reality TV personality
From: California
Peter got famous for looking for love, as he appeared in both The Bachelorette season 15 and The Bachelor season 24. But we have a feeling there will be no love lost as he participates in The Traitors.
Job: Author/Reality TV personality
From: Ohio
Sheree already has one ally in the competition, as she will be reuniting with The Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Phaedra Parks in The Traitors. But will their alliance run smoothly? Sheree also has her own beauty brand and is an accomplished author.
Job: Boxer

]]>The last season of The Boys was that most rare of things – a third outing for a genre piece, based on an acclaimed comic book series, which actually improved on its previous runs.
The Boys season 3 was an absolute triumph, with a slightly lacklustre finale but which otherwise hit the nail on the head of what this series could be, utilising its extreme tendencies as a thrilling background to compelling, character-driven storytelling.
With a new season approaching, the question is always going to be asked about whether this is the moment where the wheels will finally come off, where the quality dips and the story falters.
It was asked when spin-off series Gen V debuted – nope, that was another success, proving this world could carry a story with a whole new set of protagonists. Now, again with season 4 of the main series, the question returns.
Thankfully, after a shaky start which seemed worryingly directionless, The Boys regains its mojo and remains as thrilling, funny and diabolical as ever.
This fourth season picks up shortly after the last, with Homelander trying to raise Ryan in his own image while also on trial for murder following that devastating season 3 cliffhanger, Victoria Neuman on the brink of becoming Vice President Elect and Butcher struggling to come to terms with the fact that he only has months left to live.
Gone is the Temp V – don’t expect to see Butcher eye-lasering anyone anytime soon, or Hughie zipping around naked using his teleportation.
In truth, that’s a good thing. While it made for an exciting switch-up last season, it was always clear that it couldn’t last forever, as it would fundamentally change the power dynamic, and the key conflict at the centre of the show.
The Boys should be about a group of scrappy humans taking on the behemoths, and trying not to lose their souls in process. Giving the gang superpowers muddies the waters, making for an interesting one-season dilemma, but potentially shattering the format if extended beyond its natural end-point.
However, in the immediate aftermath of taking them away, the problem with the first few episodes this season is that the Boys themselves are all so downbeat. Butcher is dying and, in recognising this, has had his wings clipped. He’s sombre in a way he hasn’t been before, even after all the tragedy he’s suffered.
Meanwhile, Annie is struggling to re-adjust to life away from her superhero alter-ego, Starlight, Mother’s Milk is burdened with the responsibility of leading the group, and even Frenchie and Kimiko are dealing with personal quandaries which have left them subdued.
It makes for a frustrating start. The Boys is known for its tonal flexibility, but one thing it should never be is morose or gloomy – it doesn’t suit the show’s temperament or jibe with its ridiculous, often grotesque tendencies and it’s not why fans tune in.
Thankfully, things are less downbeat over with the Seven, as they gain two new members – Sister Sage and Firecracker.
Susan Heyward’s Sage is the smartest person in the world, a supe whose only power is her mind and her strategic abilities. A cynical and independently minded figure, she’s a unique foil for Homelander and provides the propulsion for this season’s central storyline.
There is a question over just how ingenious her plans are – in many ways, they just seem like a fairly obvious rehashing of the tried and tested populist playlist, just on a grander scale, meaning some suspension of disbelief may be required when we’re told they’re ingenious and revolutionary. However, it’s not an insurmountable problem when Sage is otherwise such an interesting character.
Meanwhile, Valorie Curry’s Firecracker is the complete opposite, a loud-mouthed, dim-witted shock-jock/conspiracy theorist with a limited power set, an overinflated sense of self and a personal hatred of Starlight.
Sage and Firecracker could not be two more different additions to the team, and not only does this make for an sparky, tense dynamic between the two of them, but it also helps to shake up the group as a whole.
The rest of the Seven – Homelander, A-Train, The Deep and Black Noir – remain as compulsively watchable as ever, with The Deep continuing to be the comedic MVP, and Noir getting a brilliant twist after his death last season.
It’s in the scenes with the Seven that the season is at its best early on, with the Boys themselves feeling initially aimless, and the scale of the challenge ahead of them overwhelming.
It’s always been a question with the set-up of the series – when you have two opposing forces, one of whom is so much more powerful than the other and both of which need to remain in play long-term, how do you keep the tension and stakes feeling real, while also advancing the plot?
This question has never felt more apt than in the first three episodes – however, thankfully, it’s an issue which is soon rectified.
The remainder of the series returns the show to its diabolical best, as its plot-line for the season kicks into gear and it also leans into more episodic storytelling. This leads to some exhilarating escapades for our heroes and villains, including some truly horrific, typically graphic set-ups.
The show has frequently managed to capture the horror of what unfettered superpowers could unleash on the world, and it nails this multiple times here in spectacular style. A few sequences from upcoming episodes spring to mind as ones which will be talked about for a long time as chilling, traumatic, grotesque and, in some cases, surprisingly emotional.
By leaning into this, the show shifts away from its more morose character drama of the early episodes, and back towards full-throated, depraved superhero antics, while also continuing a politics-heavy through-line.
It’s true that the show’s political messaging and references are more on the nose than ever before here, and the season does, at times, become an admittedly-easy game of spotting the allusion to real-world events.
However, somehow The Boys continues to get away with this lack of subtlety in a way which few other shows could. In a heightened world, it’s understandable that the satire should also be heightened, and the series’ comedic bent and inclination towards absurdity helps to puncture any sense that it could become cloying or overly-sincere.
Its also worth commenting on the show’s Gen V crossover moments, many of which have already been publicised in trailers and other pre-release materials. These are slotted into the season effectively and efficiently, and are unlikely to prove distracting for viewers who haven’t seen the sister show.
However, for fans who have, they will undoubtedly get a richer experience, as the series capitalises on the sense of a larger, more complicated world beyond our central characters, which that show helped to imbue.
Release schedules on streamers can sometimes appear arbitrary, but here The Boys will likely benefit from its tried and tested pattern more than in usual circumstances. The first three episodes are being released at once, meaning fans can binge them in one go and get the slightly shaky set-up out of the way, before moving on the real meat of the season in future weeks.
It may not be quite as exhilarating or propulsive as season 3, but that isn’t exactly a damning statement – this is still a strong entry in the show’s run to date, and will leave fans not only excited for more, but also reassured that there are no signs of The Boys losing flight anytime soon.
The Boys season 4 will arrive on Prime Video on Thursday 13th June. The Boys seasons 1-3 are available to watch now – try Amazon Prime Video for free for 30 days. Plus, read our guides to the best Amazon Prime series and the best movies on Amazon Prime.

]]>A new football season is on the horizon. The domestic league has finished, with Man City reigning victorious in England yet again, and so fans are already thinking about the 2024/25 season – which means gamers are inevitably planning their Ultimate Teams in FC 25.
But before we get to a new game, it is worth noting that FC 24 is still going strong. The game’s focus is now firmly on the glorious summer of football we have coming up, with an update dropping to commemorate Euro 2024 – which kicks off in just a few days.
Players can expect new international kits and tournament-themed cards in Ultimate Team. But unfortunately that will all be over before we know it, so it’s time to start prepping for FC 25 with everything we know about the game already.
Read on for EA FC 25 release date speculation and latest news.
A release date for FC 25 is yet to be confirmed by EA.
However, in previous years the developer’s football sim has launched towards the end of September, and so we estimate that FC 25 will be no different.
Last year’s edition, FC 24, was released on 29th September 2023, with players who had pre-ordered the game getting early access to it a week earlier.
The game always launches once the real-world season has already begun to allow for squad changes as a result of the summer transfer window and for new kits to be finalised.
FC 25 cannot currently be pre-ordered. It is likely that all of the usual stores such as GAME and Amazon, as well as platform-specific digital storefronts, will eventually have the game available for pre-purchase.
As soon as that information becomes available, we will update this page.
It is still to be confirmed which consoles and platforms FC 25 will be playable on, but we can say with near certainty that current-generation systems such as the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 will be in the line-up.
Last year’s game was also available on PC via Steam, and so we expect FC 25 to be released here too.
For owners of the platform’s handheld PC, the Steam Deck, they have been unable to play FC 24 so far, as it still has an “Unsupported” label attached to it. With more games becoming available on the Deck, we wouldn’t be surprised to see FC 25 land on it too.
FC 24 also released on Nintendo Switch and last-generation consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4, so it is likely the next instalment will also appear on them too.
Gameplay details have not been revealed for FC 25 yet, but we would speculate that modes such as Ultimate Team and Career Mode will return, as they have been ever-present in the game for a long time now.
Online multiplayer is almost guaranteed too, and we are fairly certain Clubs will return. There are usually very few changes to the game’s annual line-up of modes.

It will be interesting to see how EA improves the matchplay, though, considering last year’s game saw a big jump in visuals thanks to the use of HyperMotion V and Frostbite technology.
Another new addition that could be on the cards is the inclusion of VAR, which the game’s creative director Samuel Rivera has previously hinted at in an interview with 3djuegos.
“Of course we would like to have VAR,” Rivera said. “I think it also depends on the game mode you are playing. If you are in something more realistic, in Career Mode, then it does make sense to be able to have some mechanics in there around VAR.
“If you’re playing something competitive online, you just want to play.”
There is not an FC 25 trailer yet, but as soon as we get more information on one, we will update this page. In the meantime, you can read more of our writing about FC 24 below.
Read more on FC 24:
The legendary Ground and Flying-type Pokémon Landorus (Incarnate Forme) is currently available in 5-Star Raid Battles in Pokémon Go, which means you’ll need to arm yourself with as much information as possible to take on the beast.
But it will only be available in the game for a limited period, which means you’ll need to hurry if you want a chance to add Landorus to your collection.
You’ll also need as much detail as possible on the best counters to deploy to successfully overcome Landorus in Raid Battles – fortunately, we have you covered.
Read on to find out all the information you need to know about Landorus in Pokémon Go.
Landorus is in Pokémon Go Raid Battles from 10am local time on 10th June until 19th June at 10am local time.
You’ll have over a week to find and fight Landorus in a 5-Star Raid Battle to earn your chance to catch the Incarnate Forme version of the legendary Pokémon.
There is a confirmed Landorus Raid Hour, too, during which you’ll have a much greater chance of finding a Landorus 5-Star Raid Battle to take part in.
This means the best chance you’ll have to take on Landorus is between 6-7pm on 12th June.
Landorus is a Ground and Flying-type Pokémon, so it is weak against Ice and Water-type attacks.
Ice-type attacks will be twice as strong, however, as it is super effective against both Ground and Flying-types.
This means you’re best off using powerful Ice-type Pokémon and attacks against Landorus.
In terms of the best Pokémon to use as counters for Landorus in Pokémon, you’ll find a list of suitable candidates in the section below.
Any Strong Ice-type Pokémon will be a great Landorus counter in Pokémon Go. Ice-type attacks are doubly strong against the legendary Pokémon, as it is a Ground and Flying-type.
Because Ice-type attacks are proper powerful against Landorus, you’ll need to bring along your best Ice-type Pokémon to the Raid Battle.
If you have one, Mamoswine is a great pick, as is Weavile and Baxcalibur. It’s a lot easier to get hold of a Glaceon if you can evolve your Eevee, too, meaning it will be a great pick against Landorus.
Other good picks include Walrein, Kyogre, Jynx, Avalugg, Mr Rime, Aurorus and any more strong Ice-type (or Water-type!) Pokémon you have.
It will be a difficult battle regardless, but you can make it so much easier if you bring the right Pokémon. Focus on Ice-types and Water-types and you’ll defeat a Landorus 5-Star Raid Battle soon enough.
[squirrel-affiliate-playlist squirrel_playlist_id=”653″ /]
Once you have defeated Landorus and had the opportunity to catch it, you’ll probably want to teach it some powerful moves.
The best combined attacks are Mud Shot (fast move) and Earth Power (charged move), according to Pokémon Go Hub.
These moves have a combined damage per second of 15.87 and a total damage count of 477.20 before it faints.

]]>*Warning – Contains spoilers for Love Island 2024.*
We might only be just over a week into Love Island 2024, but we’ve already been treated to three bombshells this season, who’ve all stormed into the villa determined to shake up the original line-up.
The latest bombshell – Omar Nyame – entered the villa on Sunday (9th June) after his arrival was first announced during the recoupling on the Friday.
Omar’s entrance comes after the arrival of Joey Essex and the subsequent appearance of Uma Jammeh.
They joined an exciting original line-up, which includes a sweets salesman, a dancer, a footballer and a hair-stylist.
With many more new islanders likely to appear on the dating show in the coming days and weeks, and plenty more drama guaranteed to ensue, here’s everything you need to know about the current cast of Love Island 2024.
The full list of Love Island 2024 cast members confirmed so far…
Here is all you need to know about them.

Job: PE teacher
From: Croydon
The third bombshell to enter the villa is Omar Nyame – and his first involvement on the show is set to be a date with Mimi, after she was left single following the first recoupling of the season.
Omar is reportedly friends with grime icon Stormzy, and says he wants to find “real love” in the villa because he’s “done with messing around and casually seeing girls”.
He says he’ll bring “high energy, high frequency and vibes” to the series, and adds: “I just want to make sure everyone has a laugh, that’s what I’m all about, I like to make sure everyone is having a good time and has a smile on their face.”

Uma Jammeh is the second bombshell to enter the Love Island villa and it appears she has set her sights on Ayo!
For Uma, she believes now felt like “a good time” for her to take part on the show as she is “young”.
“I’ve been single for my whole life,” she said in her press interview. “It’s about time I’m not single anymore. I’m ready for a boyfriend!”
Age: 33

Job: TV personality
From: Southwark, London
Joey Essex entered the Love Island villa in style as he shocked the Islanders and viewers alike with new Islander status.
Age: 24
Instagram: @harriblackmorex
Job: Dancer & Personal Shopper
From: Brighton
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
“For the boys, entertainment, a bit of fun and flirting. I’ll definitely up the flirting. For the girls, I’m a really good friend.”
If there was one thing you’d want your new fellow Islanders to know about you, what would it be?
“I’ll bring the entertainment for everyone in the Villa, whether that’s making the girls laugh or making the boys turn their heads, I’m sure that I’ll bring the drama.”
What’s your claim to fame?
“Being a bit of an IT girl in Brighton, I’ve done personal shopping for the rapper Arrdee and one of my best friends is Saffron Barker the YouTuber.”
Age: 25
Job: Model
From: Canning Town
Why Love Island and why now?
“It seems like something to have a go at. Of course, you can’t go wrong trying to find that love again – that is something that would be amazing to find if possible. I don’t really like being outside too much, I’ve been outside recently and it’s not fun outside! I do prefer to be indoors chilling with that person I can do stuff with. It would be nice to have that with somebody again.”
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
“I think I’d bring excitement and joy. I think people would have someone to come to and talk to and feel comfortable being around or to have a laugh with. I think I’m somebody everyone would take to.”
What makes you a catch?
“I feel like the way I carry myself is very respectful and I think people take to that and once you show who you are to somebody you get it back tenfold. The way I am gives off a good enough energy for people to feel comfortable around me.”
Age: 25
Instagram: @jessamywhite
Job: Retail Manager
From: Stockport
Why Love Island and why now?
“All my friends are in relationships, settled down with babies and I’m going to end up that aunt that rocks up at family parties and they say ‘she’s still not met someone, she’s still going to Ibiza having a midlife crisis.’ I just want to meet somebody and to be able to do all of that stuff too.”
Why would you say you’re single?
“I think I’m single because I don’t underestimate the fact that I’m hard work. I know what I want and I’m not easily pleased. When you’re a loud, outgoing woman, sometimes it can intimidate men – men don’t always want that. I think that can sometimes put people off me because I am quite loud and you can hear me before you see me. Some men love that though.”
If you had to pick three of the most important things you look for in a partner what would they be?
“I would say nice teeth, I love a set of white Turkey teeth but a good set of Turkey teeth. I would say personality traits, you have to be family orientated. I’m so close to my mum and I’d like my future partner to be really close with their family too. You have to be tall, you can’t be shorter than me, I can’t be having to question whether I can wear heels around you and what height of heels I can wear. If you’re vertically challenged, it’s not for me.”
Age: 24
Instagram: @seanstone__
Job: Sweet salesman
From: Hertford
Why Love Island and why now?
“I’ve always been one for relationships and when you have found someone you want to be with it’s the best feeling. Now is the perfect time, the one thing that is missing is my soulmate.”
What makes you a catch?
“5’11, tall, dark and handsome. Not quite 6 foot. Great smile, great teeth, great arms and abs – the full package.”
How would your friends and family describe you?
“Very loving, caring and thoughtful. I’m the kind of guy that if you broke down on the motorway and needed your tyre changed, I’d be there at any time of night.”
Age: 24
Instagram: @mimiitafara
Job: Mental Health Nurse
From: Portsmouth
Why Love Island and why now?
“The pool in Portsmouth is not giving. I’ve tried dating, speaking to people on social media and it just hasn’t been successful. Applying was a spontaneous thing, I didn’t expect to get here!”
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
“I’m a girls’ girl. My girls are my rocks and I’m theirs so I’ll be a good friend as well as going in there to find a man. I like dressing up so I’ll bring style, and I’d like to think I’m quite funny so I’ll make people laugh. Bringing honesty as well – I’m good at picking up on people’s personality traits and side-eyeing those who might be a liar.”
How would friends/family describe you?
“Loving, supportive, considerate, empathetic, loyal, and I’ve got a big heart!”
Age: 21
Instagram: @ciarandaviesss
Job: Surveyor
From: Pencoed, South Wales
Why Love Island and why now?
“It’s the perfect time for me, I feel like I’m mature enough for something serious with the right girl.”
If you had to pick three of the most important things you look for in a partner what would they be?
“Obviously looks but humour is a big thing for me, I’m a bit of a wind up so I want a girl who can give it back. Loyalty is another one for me, I think that’s the most important thing to look for in a relationship.”
What’s your claim to fame?
“When I was in Malia on a boys holiday I pretended to be Liam Reardon from series 7 to get into a club because they wouldn’t let us in. It worked and we ended up getting a private booth and free drinks all night.”
Age: 29
Instagram: @patsylouu
Job: Office Administrator
From: Orpington
Why Love Island and why now?
“I’m finally ready to find a sexy man and I think Love Island may just have some nice hunky guys for me. I think now is the right time as I’ve got a few greys so I need to bag a man sooner rather than later.”
If there was one thing you’d want your new fellow Islanders to know about you, what would it be?
“I’ve got something very special about me which is my disability, it’s a condition I was born with called Ebs Palsy. It doesn’t define who I am , but it makes me a little different, although I’ve learnt to get on with it and it’s never held me back.”
How would friends/family describe you?
“My friends would say that I’m the loudest person in the group, I’m the one who’s always up for doing a dare, they’d say I was the life and soul of the party.
“My family would say that I’m bossy and that it’s always my way or the highway, they’d say I rule the roost.”
Age: 27
Instagram: @ronnievint
Job: Semi Professional Footballer
From: South East London
Why would you say you’re single?
“I’ve had two serious relationships in the past but more recently have enjoyed being single and doing my own thing as I’ve been focussed on my football career. I’ve got to the age where I want to find the right person I can build a life with.”
If you had to pick three of the most important things you look for in a partner what would they be?
“I want someone that’s family orientated, caring and career minded. Lookwise, I like blondes with nice boobs but am partial to a brunette too.”
What’s your claim to fame?
“Bradley Dack is my best friend and he and Olivia are a big part of my life. I call Olivia my big little sister, she always looks out for me.”
Age: 26
Instagram: @samanthakennymakeup
Job: Make-up artist
From: Liverpool
Why Love Island and why now?
“I’m ready to settle down and Love Island is an amazing opportunity to meet someone that isn’t from my area. I love a cockney boy so I’m hoping there is one in there for me.”
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
“I think I will definitely bring some fire, I’m very opinionated and wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m really bubbly too so I’ll definitely have a laugh as well as bringing some scouse glamour.”
Why would you say you’re single?
“I don’t get out enough, I work weekends and tend to not go out in Liverpool anymore. If I want a night out I go down to London as I love the boys down south. Tall, dark and cockney is my type.”
Age: 30
Job: Recruitment manager
From: Surbiton, Surrey
Why Love Island and why now?
“London dating hasn’t worked out for me. The opportunity to be surrounded by good looking people in a villa under the sun is an absolute no brainer! I’m 30 years old and I need to start thinking seriously about the next step, and what better place.”
Why would you say you’re single?
“I haven’t found the right girl, I’m quite picky and have high standards. Dating in London is horrible. You don’t know who’s single… but now you’re putting me in a place where everyone’s single so there’s no issues around that.”
What’s your claim to fame?
“I’m mates with Spencer Morgan (Piers Morgan’s son). We met when I moved to Fulham in 2018.”
Age: 24
Instagram: @nicolesams123
Job: Accounts manager
From: Aberdare
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
“My personality is big and I’m pretty out there, I reckon I’ll probably have one of the biggest personalities in the Villa.”
Why would you say you’re single?
“I’ve been enjoying single life and the attention of different boys, it’s fun. I’ve enjoyed being able to go on holiday with the girls and not having to worry about someone back home. All the girls are there texting in their room and I’m out till 4 in the morning living my best life.”
Tell us something not many people know about you?
“I became a world champion dancer in 2011, not many people know that. I was a professional street dancer.”
Age: 23
Instagram: @samtaylorhair
Job: Hair Stylist
From: Chesterfield
Why Love Island and why now?
“At this point in my life I just want the opportunity to find a real connection with someone. I’ve been looking for that connection for quite some time but I’ve never really found it, I’m hoping I find that spark in the Villa.”
What makes you a catch?
“My personality and chat, I’d like to think I’ve got lots of depth and substance which should hopefully help me out when trying to find a connection.”
If there was one thing you’d want your new fellow Islanders to know about you, what would it be?
“I’d say not to judge a book by its cover because how I look compared to what I do for work might not necessarily add up. You wouldn’t look at me as a tall guy covered in tattoos and think that I make girls’ hair look pretty for a living.”

]]>The biggest TV story of the year is set to get another chapter – with ITV announcing that it will be continuing the story of its hugely impactful factual drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office with a new documentary.
The one-off programme has been given the working title Mr Bates vs The Post Office: The Impact and will reveal the extraordinary effect the four-part series has had on the lives of the subpostmasters it featured, as well as providing an insight into the ongoing struggle for justice and financial redress.
It will include input from Alan Bates himself and other key figures including Jo Hamilton, Jess Uppal and Noel Thomas, while subpostmasters who have come forward in the aftermath of the drama series will also be featured.
A statement from ITV reads: “Telling their stories on television for the first time, some say that without the public’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to the drama, they would not have had the courage to talk openly about their involvement in the scandal and how it affected them.”
The series will also shine a light on some of the shocking moments from the Judge-led Inquiry into the scandal, including testimony from Paula Vennells, Angela van den Bogerd and Post Office investigators.
Meanwhile, viewers can expect an insight into new developments and layers of intrigue that “add further dimensions to a scandal that is still ongoing even following the broadcast of the drama and the subsequent torrent of news coverage”.
Speaking about the commission, ITV’s controller of factual programming Jo Clinton-Davis said: “The Post Office scandal became a genuine national talking point at the start of this year, striking at the heart of the public’s sense of justice.
“The reverberations have been felt ever since at a political level, but particularly in the lives of those directly affected. This film promises to tell the story of what has happened since in their lives, how their fight continues as well as illuminating new layers of this scandal.”
Read more:
Meanwhile, executive producer Natasha Bondy added: “The public’s response to Mr Bates was extraordinary and had a hugely positive impact on subpostmasters. We’re delighted we can explore how far-reaching that impact has been, while still showing that the fight for financial redress is far from over.”
Earlier this year, the ensemble cast of the show – including Toby Jones, Monica Dolan and Julie Hesmondhalgh – topped the Radio Times’ TV 100 list, which celebrates those who changed the entertainment landscape for the better.
In the aftermath of the show airing in January, the UK government has been under pressure to move the case along, while the series also drove more than 1 million people to sign a petition demanding that former Post Office boss Paula Vennells hand back her CBE – which she did in January amid the mounting calls.
Mr Bates vs The Post Office is available to watch on ITVX. Mr Bates vs The Post Office: The Impact will air on ITV later in 2024.

]]>The Apple Vision Pro is finally going on sale in the UK this June, bringing Brits the chance to experience their personal electronics in a brand-new way.
This “spatial computer” – or headset in layman’s terms – combines virtual reality, augmented reality and just plain old reality into one device that can accomplish gaming, working, entertainment and so much more.
Apple first released the Vision Pro in the US this February, but is now extending the availability to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Canada, as well as European countries France, Germany, and the UK.
In the press release, Apple CEO Tim Cook said: “The enthusiasm for Apple Vision Pro has been extraordinary, and we are thrilled to introduce the magic of spatial computing to more customers around the world.
“We can’t wait for more people to see the impossible become possible, whether working and collaborating with an infinite canvas for apps, reliving treasured memories in three dimensions, watching TV shows and movies in a one-of-a-kind personal cinema, or enjoying brand-new spatial experiences that defy imagination.”
The Apple Vision Pro will go on sale at the end of the month, with, as you can probably expect, a hefty price tag.
But what exactly does this device do? And is it worth buying? Here’s everything you need to know about the Apple Vision Pro and how you can get your hands on one.
Check out the Apple Vision Pro at Apple Store
You can also take a look at the best Apple Music offers and Apple Music vs Amazon Music.
Jump to:
The Apple Vision Pro will be available for UK pre-order from Friday 28th June at 1pm. Shipping will then start on Friday 12th July.
The Apple Vision Pro starts at £3,499 for the 256GB model, £3,699 for 512GB and £3,899 for 1TB.
You can also buy the Apple Vision Pro Travel Case for £199 and AppleCare+ for the device will be available for £499.
We all know Apple likes to use descriptions like “revolutionary spatial computer,” but what does this actually mean?
Well the Apple Vision Pro is essentially a VR headset, a bit like the Meta Quest 3 or the PSVR2, except it does much more than just gaming.
With the Apple Vision Pro, you have access to hundreds of apps powered by visionOS, and you interact with them simply by looking at the desired app and tapping your fingers together. You can also type on a virtual keyboard or ask Siri to select things for you.
For working, the Vision Pro can access business apps like Slack, Zoom and Microsoft 365. For entertainment, it has all the major streaming apps so you can watch TV shows and films through the lense, or you can put yourself right in the thick of the action with Immersive Video. And for gaming it has more than 250 titles through Apple Arcade – some of which are specifically designed for the immersive experience like Job Simulator.
If you want the techy bit, the Apple Vision Pro has an ultra-high-resolution display system using micro-OLED technology to pack 23 million pixels into each eye. It uses a high-performance eye tracking system to respond to your eye movement and Personalised Spatial Audio to create the feeling that sounds are coming from the space around you. Lastly it uses Apple’s flagship M2 processing chip and the input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to make sure that what you see feels right in front of you.
Check out the Apple Vision Pro at Apple Store
The Apple Vision Pro can access a ton of TV and film streaming services including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Hulu, Peacock and Paramount+.
There are also movie sites like IMAX, Juno and Supercut, and the Apple TV app has more than 250 3D movies, alongside Apple TV+ originals like Ted Lasso.
For sports fans, you can also use apps from major sports leagues like the NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA TOUR, The Masters, UFC, World Surf League, and Red Bull TV.
If you have yet to sign up to Apple TV+, subscriptions start at £8.99 a month.
You will be able to pre-order the Apple Vision Pro from Friday 28th June via the Apple Store.
The headset is likely to go on sale at other tech retailers – Currys, Argos, John Lewis etc – following the general sale date on 12th July.
For now you can take a look at some of the other Apple products on offer.

]]>There’s good news for Silent Witness fans today – with the long-running crime series now officially renewed for a 28th season.
Filming is currently under way in the West Midlands for the next run, which will pick up after Jack’s proposal to Nikki at the end of season 27 and see the Lyell Centre team tackle more tricky cases.
It marks a change of location for the show’s production, with the BBC’s chief content officer Charlotte Moore previously explaining that the corporation “is committed to investing in the West Midlands”.
At the time the move was announced, the BBC’s managing director for scripted series Mark Linsey added: “This is an exciting time for one of our longest-running dramas that continues to thrill audiences here in the UK – and in over 200 territories around the world.
“We look forward to seeing the creative opportunities relocating production of Silent Witness to the West Midlands will undoubtedly bring.”
Read more:
Of course, long-term stars Emilia Fox and David Caves will be returning as newly-engaged couple Nikki and Jack respectively in the new run, while we’d also expect Alastair Michael, Aki Omoshaybi and Rhiannon May to reprise their roles as Velvy Schur, Gabriel Folukoya and Cara Connelly.
The show will likely return in its regular slot in January 2025, but we’ll post official confirmation of a start date as and when we hear more concrete news.
As well as the usual batch of cases for the forensics experts, it’s quite possible that the new season could feature the wedding between Jack and Nikki – we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!
All 27 seasons of Silent Witness are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
Portugal face off against the Republic of Ireland in their final friendly before Roberto Martinez’s side begin their Euro 2024 campaign in Germany.
Portugal are playing their third friendly of the month on Tuesday night before their opening group match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, June 18th.
Martinez’s men had the perfect preparation for Euro 2024 by winning all 10 of their qualifiers. They also scored 36 times in those games and conceded just two goals – and they’ll be hoping that continues this summer.
Portugal, who will face off against Turkey and Georgia in their other two group games, will be hoping to go all the way in the competition this summer, just like they did at Euro 2016 when Cristiano Ronaldo and co beat hosts France in the final.
Republic of Ireland, meanwhile, didn’t qualify for Euro 2024 after winning just two of their eight games. Tuesday’s friendly is preparation for their Nations League campaign, which gets underway in September, with John O’Shea’s side facing England at Aviva Stadium.

Michael O’Neill’s men won’t be at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer after failing to qualify. They won just three of their 10 qualifiers, and only finished above San Marino in their group.
Northern Ireland played Spain in a friendly last week, with O’Neill’s side taking a surprise lead thanks to Dan Ballard’s goal after just two minutes.
However, the Euro 2024 hopefuls turned it on after going behind, with Luis de la Fuente’s men running out 5-1 winners.
Tuesday night’s friendly is Northern Ireland’s last outing before their Nations League campaign kicks off in September against Luxembourg. They will face off against Bulgaria and Belarus, too.
Andorra also played Spain in a friendly last week, as they lost 5-0 thanks to a second-half hat-trick from Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal.
Koldo Álvarez’s side are also preparing for the Nations League, and they’ll play Malta and Moldova.

Ferguson previously confirmed that the series is set to end after seasons 3 and 4 – meaning there’s a lot more action set to come our way in the hit Apple TV+ show, which is based on the books by Hugh Howey.
In an interview with Collider, Ferguson explained: “I believe that the show has an ending, and I know when that is. So that’s the answer. You will find out when the show is done.
“To be honest, I don’t think it’s a secret. The books are the books. It’s three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons.
“So I believe, unless any Apple person is gonna jump on, I think we’re absolutely fine in saying season 1, we’ve done. Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we’re now looking at green-lighting seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would film them maybe together, and that would be the end.”
Here’s everything we know so far about the release of Silo season 2 – especially after that season 1 finale unravelled secrets that left us with more shocking questions about what happened to humanity, and where Juliette and co will go next.
While Silo season 2 doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, we’re not expecting it any sooner than early 2025.
The series was initially expected to be released this year, but it was impacted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The second season was confirmed in June 2023 and also began filming at Hoddesdon Studios in Hertfordshire that same month.
Graham Yost continues to serve as showrunner, while executive producer Morten Tyldum will return to direct the first three episodes.
Previously confirming that the show had been renewed for season 2, Yost said: “Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it’s an honour to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo.”
Production on season 2 finished in March 2024.
Rebecca Ferguson is also once again among the large roster of executive producers.
We fully expect the following cast members from Silo to return for the second season.
Rebecca Ferguson will most certainly return as series protagonist Juliette, particularly after that epic cliffhanger.
Meanwhile, we can expect the other major players who were still alive in the Silo to return for the next run.
Additionally, there are other supporting characters that we could see back, including Sophie Thompson as Gloria Hildebrandt, Shane McRae as Knox, Remmie Milner as Shirley, Billy Postlethwaite as Sheriff Hank, Chipo Chung as Sandy, Matt Gomez Hidaka as Cooper, Will Merrick as Danny, and Game of Thrones star Iain Glen as Jules’ father, Dr Pete Nichols.
The series will continue on from that epic cliffhanger from the season 1 finale that saw Juliette discover that the world outside was indeed toxic but that there were numerous other silos.
The show will continue to explore what this means for Jules and the rest of the cast, whilst also updating us on life in the series’ initial setting.
The story will also be adapted from Hugh Howey’s Wool trilogy of books which will answer questions about the nature of the silos and how the world ended up in the state it is in.
We also predict to see the romantic relationship between Jules and IT hand Lukas explore and grow in future episodes, but we doubt it will be smooth sailing.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com about what future seasons of the series will hold, author Hugh Howey explained: “What I love about this series, the book series, and what we would do with the TV show if we get an opportunity, is it doesn’t tell the same story over and over again. There’s not a lot of repetition.
“The story gets bigger over time and you try to maintain the DNA in the heart of what makes the series fantastic, but there’s new characters to introduce, and again, every time you think the mystery is solved, it just gets more intriguing.
“That’s been the thrill of this show and the thrill of the books, and we have to get a chance to keep doing it.”
At present, there is no trailer for the second season of Silo.
However, you can watch the trailer for the first run below.
As detailed above, Apple TV+ has also released a trailer for its upcoming slate of TV shows and movies in 2024 and beyond, which features a couple of clips from Silo season 2. Watch below:
Silo season 1 is available to stream on Apple TV+ – you can sign up to Apple TV+ here. Hugh Howey’s Wool Trilogy is available to buy now.
Warning: Contains spoilers for Nocturnal Animals.
2016’s Nocturnal Animals stars Amy Adams and not one but two Jake Gyllenhaals in two separate narratives that are nonetheless linked.
Neither feature any actual nocturnal animals, though, so animal lovers might end up a tad disappointed – and that’s not the only mystery this film toys with.
Based on Austin Wright’s novel Tony and Susan, Tom Ford’s chilling neo-noir introduces us to an art gallery owner named Susan, who struggles with life in LA and, in particular, her marriage to Armie Hammer’s disinterested businessman.
When a manuscript from her first husband suddenly arrives on her doorstep, almost 20 years since they last spoke, Susan dives in, eager to learn why Edward has dedicated his new book to her out of the blue.
The story within this story follows a man named Tony (also played by Gyllenhaal) on a trip with his wife Laura and daughter India. It’s not long before the family are run off the road by three men, who kidnap them but leave Tony behind.
With the help of a policeman (played by Michael Shannon in an Oscar-nominated role), Tony eventually discovers the bodies of Laura and India, who have been raped and murdered.
One of the culprits later dies in a robbery, but the other two have got off scot-free. That is, until Detective Andes agrees to help Tony find justice. He’s dying of cancer, so he has nothing to lose.
The plan kind of works. One killer is shot dead while trying to escape, and the other dies of a gunshot wound after knocking Tony out with a fire poker.
Upon waking, Tony staggers outside and shoots his gun in the air, but then falls and accidentally rolls onto the gun. It goes off, and Tony dies.
Meanwhile, the manuscript stirs up memories of how Susan’s marriage to Edward went. Not well, it turns out, because she cheated on him with Hutton, who would go on to become her current husband, and she aborted Edward’s baby after they broke up too.
In the present, Susan comes to discover that history has repeated itself – except this time, Hutton is cheating on her.
Armed with this knowledge and the book now finished, Susan replies to Edward’s email and agrees to meet him while he’s in LA. But there’s one more twist to come – read on to have the Nocturnal Animals ending explained.
Susan takes off her wedding ring and wears a gorgeous green gown to meet Edward in a fancy restaurant. But he never shows up. As diners continue eating around her, enjoying their night, Susan waits alone. And that’s how Nocturnal Animals ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Well, the manuscript sure did end with a bang, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Susan gave a little whimper too when she realised that Edward had stood her up.
But the question is why? Why did Edward never show up to a dinner that he originally proposed?
Tony dies in a tragic accident by his own hand in the story within a story. Could the same thing have happened to Edward? Could he have perhaps died tragically somehow on the way to dinner? Or did he even take his own life to make Susan suffer more for all the pain she caused him?
While both ideas are reflected by themes within the manuscript, neither hold much weight in the film itself. There’s no hint that Edward has died, and for that idea to have worked, audiences shouldn’t have to reach so far for it to make sense.
The alternative, then, is perhaps the most obvious answer: Edward chose to stand Susan up on purpose. But again, the question that remains is why? Why did he orchestrate this whole scenario in the first place?
If the manuscript taught us one thing, it’s that Edward knows a thing or two about revenge. He loves it, in fact. So, after years of being treated badly and made to feel weak, Edward plans to make Susan feel the exact same way.
Standing her up is rude on its own, but by dedicating the book to her and feigning interest again, he’s deliberately reignited Susan’s interest in him as well, thereby hitting her where it hurts when the rejection does land.
It’s no coincidence that Edward’s book is about a wife and child who have been cruelly snatched away from him. And it’s no coincidence that the manuscript gave Susan a paper cut when she first held it either. Because the parallels between this story and their shared history are supposed to hurt in every way possible, even unintentionally with a sliced finger.
Susan often stayed awake at night over-analysing everything wrong with her life. That’s why Edward often described her as a “nocturnal animal”.
And now, thanks to his machinations, Susan will do that more than ever, toiling with the knowledge that her current relationship with Hutton will never fulfil her in the way that Edward did.
Susan is fated to become even more of a nocturnal animal now, forever wondering why Edward didn’t show up to their meeting at the restaurant.
Oh, look – that means there is a nocturnal animal in the film, after all. That’s a relief.
Nocturnal Animals is currently streaming on Netflix – sign up from £4.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.

]]>Becoming as powerful as possible is crucial in Elden Ring, otherwise it is likely the game will crush you.
Smithing stones are a surefire way to do this, so you’ll want to find all their locations as quickly as possible.
Elden Ring does not hold our hand when we’re playing, and so you can easily spend hours searching for enemies that will drop the stones or locations where they can be farmed.
They are vital to the game as they will improve the stats of your weapons, so you can’t avoid them.
You can get an idea on the exact type of stone you’ll need by checking your weapons at a Smithing Table, so you can focus your attention on locating the right ones.
If you are sick of getting destroyed in Elden Ring, then read on for some smithing advice that will certainly change your fortunes.
Yes, lots of different enemies will drop smithing stones if you defeat them in Elden Ring, allowing you to loot that handy item from their corpse.
The following enemies have been confirmed to drop smithing stones from time to time:
There may well be more to add to the list here, and if we stumble across any other generous vanquished foes we will let you know.
Keep in mind that powering up the Arcane attribute (in the ‘Level Up’ menu at any Site of Grace) will boost your odds of finding smithing stones, as will using consumables that boost Discovery (like the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot that you should be able to loot at Stormveil Castle).
Smithing stones can be found in numerous different locations in Elden Ring. We’ve listed out some key areas below:
Rather than just whacking random enemies and hoping that they drop smithing stones, we’d recommend hunting down the various bell bearings.
These items are found at very specific locations, and once you’ve found one and given it to the Twin-Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold, this will enable you to buy the relevant smithing stones directly from them.
As the video guide above shows, the first bell bearing will allow you to buy smithing stone 1 and smithing stone 2, the second bell bearing allows you to buy smithing stone 3 and smithing stone 4, the third bell bearing allows you to buy smithing stone 5 and smithing stone 6, and the fourth bell bearing allows you to buy smithing stone 7 and smithing stone 8.
If you don’t fancy following along with the video above, we’ve written out where to find these bell bearings below!
Somber smithing stones are needed to upgrade certain weapons, and these stones have a different set of bell bearings associated with them — again, you can give these bell bearings to the Twin Maiden Husks to unlock the ability to buy the relevant somber smithing stones.
The video below shows you where these special somberstone miner’s bell bearing items are secreted across the map.
Somber smithing stone 1 and somber smithing stone 2 can be bought from Smithing Master Iji in Lirunia. You should run into him naturally near the Site of Grace named Road to the Manor. Or, if you want to go after the somberstone miner’s bell bearing 1, which will allow you to buy somber smithing stone 1 and somber smithing stone 2 from the Twin Maiden Husks, you can pick up that bell bearing by beating the boss at Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Caelid.
Somber smithing stone 3 and somber smithing stone 4 can be bought from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold (if you bring them the somberstone miner’s bell bearing 2, which will be dropped by a pair of Crystalin bosses at the Site of Grace named Altus Tunnel).
You’ll be able to buy somber smithing stone 5 and somber smithing stone 6 after you bring somberstone miner’s bell bearing 3 to the Twin Maiden Husks. This particular ball bearing can be found on a corpse near the Site of Grace named First Church of Marika.
Somber smithing stone 7 and somber smithing stone 8 can be bought from the Twin Maiden Husks after you bring them somberstone miner’s bell bearing 4 – that ball bearing is found very late in the game near a Site of Grace named Tempest Facing Balcony (up in the Crumbling Farum Azula area of the map).
Note: you cannot buy somber smithing stone 9 in Elden Ring, but you can find it the Divine Tower of Caelid. Just below that landmark on the map is a cliffside path, that leads you to a pile of corpses. Loot them all and you should find somber smithing stone 9.

]]>It’s been a long wait for Severance season 2 but, praise Kier, it’s finally wrapped filming!
The sci-fi series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, the head of a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure which splits their memories between their work and personal lives.
Apple TV+ released a sneak peek on Monday (10th June), with the footage showing Mark re-entering Lumon, as Tramell Tillman’s Milchick tells him: “Welcome back. Been a minute”.
In another clip from the footage, Mark switches between his split personalities while lying on the conference table before running down a hallway.

Apple TV+ also recently released a fresh image of season 2 (below), showing Mark holding his welcome balloons.

A first look at Severance Season 2. pic.twitter.com/qCB5DZPIdl
With that in mind, here’s everything we know so far about a potential release date, the cast, and the plot of Severance season 2.
We might have finally got our first look at the second season, but we don’t yet have a release date.
However, at a guess, we’d estimate it’s coming in early 2025.
The series went into production on season 2 back in October 2022 but was then delayed due to creative disputes as well as the Hollywood strikes.
In early January 2024, producer Ben Stiller confirmed that he was “working on” Severance season 2, but more good news came later in the month – when Apple TV+ confirmed that the instalment was in production.
— Apple TV (@AppleTV) January 29, 2024
Sharing a shot of Scott’s Mark Scout running down a corridor, they described the picture as: “A black and white action shot of Mark S (Adam Scott) running down a long white hallway. On the right side of the picture is a large camera recording the scene, confirming Severance season 2 is in production.”
In April 2024, costume designer Deelay confirmed that production had wrapped – meaning it’s just post-production to go.
“It’s a wrap on season 2,” Deelay penned on Instagram.
Here’s hoping things speed along!
We’re expecting to see the following cast members in Severance season 2:
We’re expecting the majority of the main cast, led by Adam Scott and Britt Lower, to return. In October 2022, Variety reported they’ll be joined by some new faces.
Game of Thrones and Wednesday star Gwendoline Christie, Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat, The French Dispatch’s Bob Balaban and Unbelievable’s Merritt Wever are among them, though who they’ll be playing remains a mystery at this stage.
Robby Benson (One To One), Stefano Carannante (Mirabilia), John Noble (The Lord of the Rings) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Tourist) have also been confirmed.
Given that some other guest characters died during the course of season 1, it’s less clear whether they’ll continue to be involved in the story (for example, Yul Vazquez’s ‘Petey’, who met his demise in season 1, continued to appear in flashbacks and archive footage).
A quick teaser trailer for season 2 was released by Apple following the renewal announcement, which you can watch below.
Season 2 of #Severance Thrilled we’ve been renewed. “Say Gratitude!” @AppleTV pic.twitter.com/8kJKUw4ogs
— Tramell Tillman (@TramellTillman) April 6, 2022
In June, Apple TV+ released a first-look clip for season 2, which you can watch at the top of the article.
Severance’s first season ends on quite the cliffhanger, so fans will be thanking Kier himself that a second season is coming to pick up where things left off. Watch out if you’re not up to date – spoilers are coming.
After a season of following the severed ‘Outie’ life of Mark Scout and the separate ‘Innie’ life of Mark S, the final episode combines the two plotlines, with ‘Innie’ Mark waking up inside his body outside of the Lumon building for the first time.
And he’s not alone – thanks to Dylan’s (Zach Cherry) operation of the Overtime protocol, his MDR co-workers Helly and Irving both awaken in their ‘outie’ bodies too.
Irving (John Turturro) discovers the unsettling paintings he’s been painting of an ominous corridor in the Lumon building, then tracks down his beloved Burt (Christopher Walken) – only to discover he has a partner on the outside. Still, he’s ready to confront outie Burt as the credits roll.
Similarly, Helly (Britt Lower) discovers some hard truths. It turns out her ‘Outie’ is none other than Helena Egan, part of Lumon’s senior staff who undertook being ‘severed’ as a PR exercise.
Onstage at a fancy gala, she exposes the truth of the severed employees’ miserable existences.
Meanwhile, Mark (Adam Scott) tells his sister the truth, only to discover even more lies.
Seeing a photo of ‘his’ wife, he realises something the audience (and the bigwigs at Egon) have known for a while – she’s still alive and working at Lumon as the mysterious wellness rep Ms Casey (Dichen Lachman).
Mark S desperately tries to communicate this in the seconds before his ‘Outie’ returns to control, shouting “She’s alive!” as Dylan is tackled in the Egon control room.
Altogether, there’s a lot of plot threads to pick up in a second season. Will Helly and Mark’s revelations cause a public backlash against Severance? Did Irving reach Burt? And how will the severed MDR employees be punished when they return to Lumon for their next shift?
Stiller has already offered some insight into what to expect from the second instalment back in April 2022, teasing there would be answers (and more questions) in store.
“I think it’s important for fans of the show to know that the unanswered questions do need to be answered at some point. It’s just, I think we feel this responsibility to do it in a way that is both responsible and entertaining,” he told Deadline.
“Part of the fun of the show, I’ve found, is that people have so many different theories and ideas and thoughts about it, so there’s a responsibility you have, and one thing I can guarantee you is that [creator] Dan Erickson has thought about this, and thought about it a lot over many years.”
He added: “We felt that there’s a balance [to aim for], because if too many questions are answered, then you don’t have a chance to really speculate and live in the world as much.
“So, we’re trying to figure out how to live in that world and figure out that balance, but the answers are there. It’s just, we want to try to mete it out in a way that feels fun and satisfying.”
We also still don’t know what exactly MDR are working on at Lumon, how Mark’s wife survived, why Ms Cobell (Patricia Arquette) was testing her and Mark’s interactions, or whatever the hell was going on with the baby goats.
In short, there’s an awful lot still to get through, so thank goodness we’re getting more episodes to unravel it all. Waffle parties all round!
Severance season 1 is streaming now on Apple TV+.
Many big-name stars have portrayed Agatha Christie’s iconic Belgian detective Hercule Poirot over the years – but none are more synonymous with the moustachioed sleuth than David Suchet, who played him for almost 25 years on ITV.
And so it’s perhaps fitting that the actor is now set to follow in Christie’s footsteps for a new five-part documentary series titled Travels with Agatha with Sir David Suchet, as reported by Deadline.
The series will see him replicate a journey taken by the legendary crime writer in the 1920s, taking him to Canada, Hawaii, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, with one episode dedicated to each of those locations.
It will begin filming this summer, and is expected to air on Channel 4 later in 2024 – although an exact launch date is not clear at this stage.
“Having spent a quarter of a century personifying Agatha Christie’s iconic character of Hercule Poirot, I now feel so honoured to embark upon a journey around the world, as myself — in the footsteps of possibly the greatest crime writer of all times,” Suchet said of the series.
“I feel that she will be sitting on my shoulders at every moment, urging me on to share her passion for knowledge, travel, archeology and, of course, mystery.”
Meanwhile, producer Jonathan Ford said that the series would see Suchet take viewers on a “fascinating journey to discover more about one of the world’s literary enigmas”.
He added: “Immersing himself in the countries as they are now, David will explore locations she visited and learn about people she met that eventually featured in or inspired her work.”
Fellow producer Ian Lamarra described Suchet’s knowledge of Christie and passion for her work as “unrivalled”, and said that there was “no better person to embark on this pilgrimage to the author”.
“This will be a sumptuous series, premium in its content and look, with huge international appeal,” he said.
There’s a lot to look forward to for Christie fans at the moment: in addition to this documentary series, two separate star-studded adaptations of her novels have announced their casts in the past week, one each for the BBC and Netflix.
The BBC’s take on her 1944 mystery Towards Zero will star Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ella Lily Hyland and Anjelica Huston among others, while Netflix’s version of The Seven Dials Mystery – written by former Doctor Who boss Chris Chibnall – is led by Mia McKenna-Bruce, Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman.
There has been a great deal written in response to the new series of Doctor Who in recent weeks, some of which you will have read in our Feedback pages. But whether you’re an avid fan or a casual viewer, how the show is received is very important to its future, and to the future of the BBC.
This latest incarnation of Doctor Who is “a canary down the coal mine”. As much as I might wish that the TV world was stuck back in the time when I was hiding behind the sofa, watching on our 19-inch black-and-white Pye TV as Patrick Troughton battled the Ice Warriors, things have moved on.
The BBC brought back Russell T Davies to take the Whoniverse to a new global audience – and also handed over the streaming rights of the show to the Walt Disney Company. This seems to be leading the way for the BBC to create and fund shows that have worldwide appeal, and that keep up with the streaming companies and their megamillion-dollar budgets. While, in the case of Doctor Who, it’s keeping the values and principles of a show that has been part of British culture since 1963.
It’s a gamble, but in terms of the viewing figures and critical response, it’s one that appears to be paying off. Russell T Davies is to be commended for once again making Who more accessible to younger viewers, the people who were always awed and inspired by it from day one.
We talk to Davies in this week’s issue of Radio Times magazine about the two-part finale to a series that has been full of energy and vigour, thanks in no small part to the new Doctor, played by the immensely talented Ncuti Gatwa.
The new issue of Radio Times magazine is out now – subscribe to Radio Times here.
Doctor Who continues on Saturday 15th June on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Previous seasons are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

]]>Speculation was running rife about Nick Eh 30 getting an Icon skin in Fortnite, but the rumours have finally been put to bed – as an announcement to confirm his appearance in the game is due imminently.
Nicholas Amyoony, better known online as Nick Eh 30, is a professional gamer who has built an audience by streaming Fortnite through his YouTube channel.
Energetic and enthusiastic, Nick Eh 30 has amassed a following of more than 7 million subscribers, and his popularity has clearly been recognised by the game’s developers – as he will join an elite list of names who have already received Icon skins.
Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, footballer Neymar Jr and musician Travis Scott are just a few high-profile people who have turned up in the online shooter as playable characters.
Nick is not the first YouTuber to appear in the game either, after the likes of MrBeast and SypherPK joined previously.
But what do we already know about Nick Eh 30’s Fortnite Icon skin before the big reveal? Read on to find out more.
The Nick Eh 30 Fortnite Icon skin is set to be revealed on Tuesday 11th June 2024 at 3pm ET, which will be at 8pm for us in the UK.
Nick confirmed this himself in a YouTube video posted on his channel, where he addressed the rumours swirling around the internet about his upcoming appearance in Fortnite.
[squirrel-affiliate-playlist squirrel_playlist_id=”653″ /]
At the time of writing, the details on Nick Eh 30’s appearance in Fortnite remain scarce. However, in his video he did reveal certain information.
Rumours about his Icon skin began when the official Fortnite page on social media website X, formerly known as Twitter, posted, “Never back down, never what?” which is the YouTuber’s catchphrase. Naturally, this led fans to speculate immediately.
Then, he began trending on the platform, but admittedly slipped up during a livestream by referring to Fortnite’s tweet, which caused fans to chat about it in the comments section of his video, only adding to the rumour mill.
Fortnite also placed an enormous in-game sign that read “Icon”, which could be seen in the background during one of Nick’s livestreams too, so there were subtle (or not so subtle) hints all along.
Leaks about a car decal in Rocket League that also displayed his catchphrase led him to finally confirm the rumours were true, adding that an Icon skin was coming to Fortnite.
He also showed off a trailer and said: “There is some crazy stuff and I’m going to go through it all.
“There will be some things that you haven’t seen before in an Icon release.”
What he is referring to remains a mystery for now, but at least we don’t have too long to wait.
