Best Sierra counters for Pokémon Go in June 2024
So, we know who Sierra will start with as it never changes, but rounds two and three have multiple options for which Pokémon she will pit yours up against, and so we need to look at them all to work out the best way to win the fight.
You need to prepared for each of the Pokémon that Sierra could send out and make sure you've got a decent counter in your back pocket for each of them. At a glance, then, this is what Sierra has in store for you:
First round:
- Shadow Trapinch (a Ground-type Pokémon, weak against Grass, Ice and Water-type moves)
Second round:
- Shadow Sableye (a Dark and Ghost-type Pokémon, weak against Fairy moves)
- Shadow Honchkrow (a Dark and Flying-type Pokémon, weak against Electric, Fairy, Ice and Rock moves)
- Shadow Milotic (a Water-type Pokémon, weak against Electric and Grass moves)
Third round:
- Shadow Houndoom (a Dark and Fire-type Pokémon, weak against Fighting, Ground, Rock and Water moves)
- Shadow Victreebel (a Grass and Poison-type Pokémon, weak against Fire, Flying, Ice and Psychic moves)
- Shadow Alakazam (a Psychic-type Pokémon, weak against Bug, Dark and Ghost moves)
This is a bit of a tricky one, as there are a few different varieties of Pokémon that Sierra could throw at you.
We recommend a strong Ice-type Pokémon, because four of your potential opponents will be vulnerable to Ice.
It is worth noting that you can re-pick your team after losing to Sierra once, by opting for a rematch at the same location, which should mean that Sierra makes the same picks again. But this time, you'll know who you're up against, so you can make your own picks more wisely.

Best Trapinch counters in Pokémon Go
Trapinch is a Ground-type Pokémon, so you will need counter those types as best you can with Ice, Water and Grass-type attacks.
The likes of Glaceon, Gyarados and Sceptile will all do well against Trapinch. Abomasnow, as a Grass and Ice-type, should do great. A powerful Grass-type Pokémon will prove useful against Milotic later on, too.
Best Sableye counters in Pokémon Go
As Sableye is both Dark and Ghost-type, it is only weak against Fairy-type attacks.
Powerful Fairy-type Pokémon will do well against Sableye, then, so the likes of Clefable, Zacian, Togekiss and Tapu Bulu/Tapu Fini should prove handy counters. The Tapus should be great against Trapinch too.
Best Honchkrow counters in Pokémon Go
Honchkrow is weak against Electric, Fairy, Ice and Rock-type attacks as it is Flying and Dark-type.
Tapu Koko is a great counter here, as it is Electric and Fairy-type. A powerful Ice-type Pokémon such as Glaceon or Baxcalibur will work well, too.
Zapdos will be very good, too, as it will prove useful if you go up against Victreebel in the next round.
Best Milotic counters in Pokémon Go
A Water-type Pokémon, Milotic is weak against Electric and Grass-type attacks.
With this in mind, it's worth bringing along a Zapdos (if you have one), as it will do well against Victreebel in the next round, too. Sceptile is a great pick, too, as it will prove handy against Trapinch at the start of the boss battle as well.

Best Houndoom counters in Pokémon Go
Fighting, Ground, Rock and Water moves are all ones that Houndoom will not take too well, so pick your most powerful Pokémon with these moves to finish him off without taking too much damage yourself.
Lucario is the best choice if you have one, but other options that will do the job almost as well are Kingler, Rampardos and Conkeldurr.
Best Victreebel counters in Pokémon Go
Victreebel is weak against Fire, Flying, Ice and Psychic-type attacks.
A powerful Ice-type is strongly recommended here, with Glaceon, Baxcalibur and Articuno all powerful counters.
Best Alakazam counters in Pokémon Go
A Psychic-type Pokémon, Alakazam is weak against Bug, Dark and Ghost-type attacks.
Based on the alternative line-up options Sierra throws at you, Alakazam is the trickiest one to counter. You won't need a strong Bug, Dark or Ghost-type Pokémon in your team against any of the other options above.
Ribombee as a Bug/Fairy-type Pokémon is worth a shout, though, as it will be strong against Alakazam and Honchkrow/Sableye.
Other than that, strong Ghost-type Pokémon will be good counters, such as Chandelure. Tyranitar is a good pick, too, as it will be strong against Honchkrow and Houndoom too.
