Stepping on the beach.
We now have something of a Death Stranding 2 release date! Confirmed during a PlayStation State of Play livestream, Kojima Productions gave us our best look at the sequel yet in a stunning 10-minute long trailer.
It wasn't just a nice long (and strange!) new look at the game we got, but we also learned it's full title: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

When is the Death Stranding 2 release date? Our speculation
The Death Stranding 2 release date is scheduled for 2025, it has been revealed by Sony and Kojima Productions.
Unfortunately, that's all we know so far, there's no word on when in 2025 the much-anticipated sequel will launch.
Fingers crossed we learn more about a finalised release date soon and that the game doesn't launch in late 2025 – we can't wait that long!

Can I pre-order Death Stranding 2?
As expected, there's no option to pre-order the game just yet, but we'll update this page as soon as anything changes!
Which consoles and platforms can play Death Stranding 2?
Like the first one, and the Metal Gear Solid series before it, Death Stranding 2 will most likely be a PlayStation exclusive at launch. That means initially it will be released on PlayStation 5.
However, as the first Death Stranding eventually came out on PC, we expect this may happen with the sequel at some point, probably after a year of PS5 exclusivity.
Death Stranding 2 gameplay and story details
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes Sam on a mission of human connection beyond the UCA, in a new journey to save humanity from extinction.
As per the official Kojima Productions website, "DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH sees Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker return to Hideo Kojima’s genre defying universe. They will be joined by Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Academy Award-winning film director George Miller."
That's one heck of a cast.
The PlayStation Store has a little more information regarding the game's plot (you can also wishlist it there), detailing:
"Sam – with companions by his side – sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction.
"Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: Should we have connected?
"Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again."
In terms of gameplay, it looks like we can expect something similar to that of the first game but with new enemies to face and environments to tackle. Check out the 10 minute long trailer in the intro of this page to see plenty of the game in action and to learn more about its plot.
Is there a Death Stranding 2 trailer?
